Hey guys,
when I do curls with straight barbell I get major pain in my wrists. what is this pain and how can I help iit or get rid of it? Should i go to ezy-curl bar? Thanks

go to e-z bar and i doubht u will feel it, i got a weird pain when doing upright rows w/ barbell, it felt like my tendon or vein was popping.

there called straps use them...upright rows

second E-curl bar sucks for bis, use the strait bar lower the weight if need be, and bye some wrist gaurds

peace

Straps will not do much for your wrist pain on upright rows. Straps basically only serve to redistribute weight from your hands to your wrists. The pain that comes from doing upright rows doesn't have a great deal to do with wieght amount but moreso the unusual angle/position the wrists are put in, especially at the top of the excercise.

Two things you can try: one, take a wider grip on the straight bar. This will lessen the strain on the wrist. Or you can use the ez bar.

As for your curls, I'd go ahead and use the ez bar until your wrist joints get stronger. Also, I'd start doing wrist curls to help strengthen them.

EzBAR

The Ezbar is the best thing to use
Im a girl with weak wrists too and the Ezbar is better to use for me than just a straight barbell, try also using free weights for your curls, no strain on wrists

Then again I lift much ligheter weights

hey HighIntensity

Why do you say curls with an ez-curl bar suck? I also have much less pain in my wrists than using a straight bar for curls. Why do you think a straight bar is better? Thanks

I agree with gymtime, they way you hold it may have something to do with it. You could try a different grip or moving your fingers different because your veins and muscles and everything else is all connected from you fingers down through your wrist. you could be cutting some kind of circulation off that's causing the pain:D .

like HighIntensity stated, buy some straps. I have seen numerious people complain about the same pain but most of them stop after using straps.

Eco, I may be having the same problem. I get this pain (especially with st. bar) that is agonizing. I am setting up a Doc. appt. this week. I have a feeling it is because of how hard I have been hittin' chest lately. Doesn't really hurt until I do Bi's, but I still think that is what caused it. A trainer that I know thinks I may have Carpel Tunnel (shit I hope not). The pain I get is on my pinky side of my wrist. No up/down pain, just when I rotate palm up/down, and only when I rotate to the extreme.

Trying doing reverse ez bar curls. I have a hell of a pair of biceps with great peaks although I am a powerlifter. Reverse curls will make your forearms bigger and really bring in definition to where the biceps and forearms connect. Also reverse curls wont strain the wrists or elbows really and they will make your arm look a lot wider from the front. If everyone who trains biceps switches from reg to reverse curls for a month, your biceps should grow noticably.

Good tip, I might just try that... I usually just use dumbells and the Ez-curl bar ever since my fore-arms hurt from the straight barbell curling I did last year....
