Beware of the coming "Frankenstorm"

its set to hit THE MOST densely populated area in the nation...so thats a fairly ignorant statement

Yeah, but all of CT will just mosey down for some expensive coffee in their Stepford homes and look at magazines for new mink house shoes.

We don't have shit but sticks and dirt

and yeah...i would go postal...

Im pretty screwed with one tree in the yard...the rest have already been cut back
generator is set to go
truck and the brother in laws fuckis (focus) are fueled up--this because none of the gas stations around the area have generators so couldnt get fuel last time
chain saws have either new or sharpened chains..so were set to clear paths for downed trees this go around

gas for the cooktop is gtg
we haven't gone nuts but were in good shape for an extended power outage

and everyone is afraid of this happening again..like last yr

We had a fucked up freak ice storm in 95 and were without power for two weeks. In E Texas....noone knew wtf to do lol we used a propane fish fryer base and the fireplace to heat the house and kept it ventilated.

So you're irritated with the government and the media for more preparedness in the event of a large weather event??

You're right. That makes more sense.

In the case of katrina, which was decidedly tragic, local and federal government was warned well in advance the levees were in bad shape.
Make whatever political rant/slant of it what you will.

I know everyone here is concerned about the loss of power again because like last year we hit freezing temps at night. There were several deaths related to Storm Alfred last October and all were related to heat in some way or form (carbon monoxide/fire).
I can say with totally accuracy that literally every single power line was ripped down in my town and in towns on either side of me. Just not being able to get fuel or access cash (no banks or atms) was crippling.Local restaurants that had gas but not back up generators were literally cooking and giving away food so it didn't go to waste.

On a funny note, for that storm, my neighbors were absolutely amazed that my husband and I came outside with fresh hot coffee. It didn't occur to them to pour boiling water through their coffee maker..lol

Its simply a matter of "in my backyard" syndrome. Nobody gives a shit about it but if its on the eastern seaboard, uh oh we better take care of it.

yeah probably...to be fair the eastern seaboard is a big deal economically for the nation so I think this is where it gets alarmist
