best way to send flowers interstate

ok guys, a little help here, id like to send some flowers interstate to someone having a bday and am either going to order some online from established sites, or give a call to a florist near the persons home and get them to deliver, since i figure the online sites have year round pricing and are more than id like to pay (a bouquet of flowers for a hundred bucks plus irritates me a bit, since id rather buy a gift at that price) and i was wondering if anyone here knew the ins and outs of either choice

needless to say if i were in the same city id gift wrap myself and give her a discount, but alas, im strapped for time

I use 1-800-flowers. they use local florists, so it would be the same thing as going local. you can check them out online and they show you all their arrangements, including a lot of packages.
