best cardio???

treadmill
efx
bike

ex: proper time , excersise, etc.

i like treadmill walk at 4mph for about 30-45min or efx with hrate at 160 for 25-30 min.

please post.

mainly for fat loss and toning up. not for endurance.

A machine that I like, but hard to come across is the stair master revolving machine. It's the stair machine that actually oscillates or however you want to describe it. crank that thing up, stay on it for 30 mins listening some death metal........ and make sure you dont have to walk for the next 2 days, because it'll be the hardest thing you've ever done ;)
great cardio workout, do it 3 times a week monday tuesday and friday
that is of course if you workout your legs on wednesday.

even if i way 240lbs.

Yes. Not that you wont lose weight at 160 or wherever you were at, but if you are looking to burn fat and not muscle then stay right at or below 130bpm...

The regular stair master kicks my ass the hardest of the low/no impact cardio items. Nothing gets me breathing hard like it does. That's why I only do it once a week.

The rest of the time I do Eliptical with or without the arms and an incline fast walk. Rarely if ever do the bike in the gym. I'll ride my bike outdoors on the weekends though.

Mix it up for the best calorie burning effect IMO..

Yeah HIIT is awesome. Im going to run uphill sprints followed by walking down the hill in the morning. Should be killer. -DOC

I like "sprint" swimming for cardio.. its interval training and will make you feel like drowning yourself, hehehe

I do one lap (down & back) as hard/fast as I can, at a olympic sized swimming pool, it take me around 45 seconds. Then I rest 1 minute. Then I repeat the process several times (somewhere in the range of 6-10 times is enough). I usually use the freestyle stroke but sometimes throw in a lap or two of breast stroke.

Its a killer total body workout & will get u ripped

I like incline sprint intervals the best.

The reason is it increases your V02 max the best, and greatly increases your explosive running power for any sport. As far as fat loss, if you read studies on hormones, it encourages fat loss without and loss of muscle (unlike long distance running). Plus, unlike intervals on bike, a sprint is something where it is quite easy to exert yourself at 100%.

My strong advice though is to get a heart rate monitor when you exercise so if your doing intervals you can verify that you are really pushing yourself. This won't be necessary if your going to do slower types of cardio (e.g., walking)

Unfortunately, it is quite taxing on the knees and has strained my knees in conjunction with squatting, jump squats and tennis (people who say long distance on the running is more taxing on the knees does not equate with my experience).

HIIT works great as well as cardio first thing when you wake up before you eat. The important thing is to keep changing things up so you don't get bored and still enjoy doing it.
