Bench Press? Impossible?

part of powerlifting though is tendon conditioning through a low rep threshold that really gets you ready to push 100% max. I would not have been able at any time to just hit my true max. Partly because hitting a max is a 50/50 shot...partly tendon/ligament conditioning.

+1

Not in my case, my form is very slow and controlled, even slower the heavier I go. Tendon and ligament health is crucial, unfortunately I never realized that until I got in my 30's.

thats good pat urself on the back :) but i was thinking of diff reasons the #`s might be confusing to the original poster... yes i agree bouncing em off ur chest to sqeeze out a few extra reps isnt impresive but might explain a low one time max compared to a high# of reps at 225

wow....never seen so much argument over such a non-issue. ever heard of fast twitch vs slow twitch muscle fibers? maybe the guy just has way more slow twitch muscle fiber than he has fast twitch. i used to train with a guy who could out rep me all day long but when we would get to the heavier weights id still be getting reps and he'd be all done getting any at all. getting 36 reps with 225 is impressive enough let alone the guy can 1 rep 445. i know id be a happy camper if could get either.

i can go for that or my theroy either way your right it doesnt matter 36 reps or 450 is nice :) like i said the #'s wernt mind boglin to me... I think the original poster thought of a topic he wanted to discuss and wasnt arguing, but thats jus my perception

Thanks GS. I even posted it as a question. Like I said, the tyoe if weight training (trainers) I have always been around it is just unheard of. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, I was just interested in finding out the experiences of others. I wan't actually trying to argue that it was impossible.

So should I be concerned that my 1 rep max is 285?.....I have freaky long arms. That's my defense...
