Great job - you had a recent squat PR too as I recall (600 range?). More impressive that you've been out of groove all week. Where is your dead in relation to your other lifts? Looking at your "location" under your avatar I see 800,600,600 so I'm guessing this is the week area in your arsenal?
The one thing I've never been crazy about in WSB is their aversion to pulling from the floor. I can understand them wanting to avoid the dead due to CNS for their elite lifters (as I understand it Simmons has relaxed his DL aversion in recent years) but it's like they refuse to use any of the Olympic lifts as a supplement. I've heard Louie quote the Bill Starr article about 'Increasing the Deadlift by Not Deadlifting' but that whole article is written with a ton of OL pulling as Starr was an Olympic lifter and stressed high pulls, cleans, power shrugs, and good mornings - Simmons seemed to take the last one and run with it. His aversion to using OL assistance lifts over the years has had me baffled to the point where I'm ready to just call him up on the phone. They are less demanding on recovery being primarily concentric only, help build speed and acceleration, follow nearly the same bar path (nothing else does), and transfer incredibly well to the movement - seemingly all of Louie's favorite things. He's made some quotes about heavier OL's being no faster than a DL but that's simply and obviously untrue as no lifter could beat the bar down if there wasn't some dramatic acceleration in the second pull (this has also been examined and proven so not just my example). Anyway - just my rant that I've been holding inside for over a decade. It seems like common sense stuff to me and I have learned a ton from him over the years but I just can't seem to make logical sense out of his stance on this aspect of training. Had to get that off my chest. If you can shed any light it would be appreciated as I've never heard a good answer from him or anyone else. - back on topic.
I recall reading a post from Lattimer on Fortified Iron regarding the differential between his raw and equipped bench. He's someone who has certainly mastered the shirt, from what I recall I don't believe too many lifters can get as much out of it (absolute or relative % of raw) as he does.
