Beating your innate predispositions

I am predisposed to being a fat-ass, but realized this early on in life and changed my lifestyle in high school. I eat low-carb with periodic carb-ups/refeeds/cheat days to facilitate my lifting and keep my leptin levels from plummeting.

Though I have succeeded for some time now and concretized a disciplined lifestyle, I can never shake the feeling that one day I may fall off the wagon because I feel as though everyone else fails- why should I succeed? Granted, not everybody has the info (low carb, lifting, etc) or the drive, but nonetheless, why should I be able to go from chubby to lean w hileeverybody else has such issues?

Anyway, this all struck me at the gym tonight as I was doing cardio, and basically I want to hear some other success stories, ie people who totally revamped their eating habits and have adopted a lean lifestyle, and more importantly have maintained and kept working towards a goal. If there are others out there, I will be more confident in maintaining what I have worked so hard for.

Thanks.

this is me totally!

at the end of high school i used to weigh 61kg..now im 46.5kg and 17%bf.

I used to eat what ever I wanted - well what thought was "healthy" - but looking back it was all sandwiches, pasta, fruit etc...im now on low carb and train hard..and dont think ill ever eat any other way - for fear of 'falling off the wagon'.

i dont have cheat days, and dont find that I need to (I have become more paranoid lately..) but protein shakes and diet soda keeps me sane. I also make sure my food tastes good..and then i dont need cheat days.

my goals constantly change, but im aiming for 15%BF by this summer (4months away)

Most people are hopelessly lazy and unwilling to delay instant gratification for somethinbg much better down the line.

You are neither.

neither what!?

neither too lazy nor unwilling to delay instant gratification for something better, down the line (I think that's what Par Deus meant).

That you are actually worrying about staying on track may be a good thing--most people who "fall off the wagon" do so because they get cocky. They think that now that they've gotten their results, they can have that one pizza, or skip that one workout, and before they know it, they're living off junk food and haven't seen the gym in weeks. Keep your positive momentum going, even if that means staying scared of the "dark side."
