Bartending school...

dgreenhill said:

A little of topic-but what the hell was up with the roof situation during the final four..players were falling all over the fucking place..completely unacceptable IMO..

I also here that that there is hella police all over the place and they are overly complete dicks exspecailly in the small towns..

What the HELL is the final four???

If you are talking about that WWF cage match that was here.. I did not see it.

and the cops are not as bad here as in the north. In small towns they are assholes sometimes... it is the same wherever you go.

Bartender? Isn't this a little like the fox going to "Hen House Guarding School"?

:)

:D

What can I say? My buddies and I came up with the idea when we were getting shitfaced at the bar last night, after the 3 bowls we smoked.

Seemed like a perfectly good idea at the time. ;)

Crazier...
you're not the only one...i've been debating on going to bartending school too, but haven't really checked that much into it...i am going to have to quit my fulltime job when i start school full time in august and was tryin' to come up with ideas of what to do as far as work part time...let me know if you find anything else out...

I've called quite a few restaurants/bars and asked 'are you hiring bartenders.' Each one has said they hire from within, and you have to work your way up to the bartending position.

This is the case at 99.99% of the time. To hire from the outside would be stepping on about half the current staff's toes ... and rightfully so. It's the most lucrative gig in the joint and almost everyone wants it.

TGIF is known for its training don't go to bartending school- :)
In some states you are required to pass food/ beverage handling test

crazier...it might help or not depending on the club. If the money is not an issue it certainly won't hurt. If money is tight but you want to work in the business get a job as a barback and then you can transition to bartending. The money can be very good, it just depends on where you work. good luck

it's about who you know or who you blow. what's so hard about mixing drinks that you need to go to school for it? i know the club i worked at had bartenders that were mostly hot chicks and nobody gave a shit about a bartending degree. they made good money too. between 500-1000 depending on the night. i remember some nice young looking female with big breasts just walked in and wam the next day she was a bartender.

Don't waste your time with the schools. I had very little bartending experience when I walked into a fancy restaurant with a HUGE bar and asked to be a bartendress.:D
They hired me on the spot, although I did say that I had bartending experience. I worked as a server for about 4 years off and on so I got to see how some of the drinks were made.
Bartending is not rocket science. Know your martinis and manhattans. Usually a busy bar will have a rolodex with a listing of all the 'harder' drinks to make.
I have been working at a present bar for about a month now. I started from scratch and am doing fine...with NO schooling. YOu don't need it. Just be prepared to not know what the hell is going on for your first couple of days at work.
btw, I am a girl, and a rather attractive one (lol) :) , so that may have helped me get the job in an all-male working environment...wink wink.
