Actually not quite... He's converting all the real jobs which used to have good futures (and freedom to advance and freedom to choose your own method to save and invest), into unionized government jobs so you can work your a$$ off for 40 years, and get your retirement fund stolen.... Or just be exterminated by your Obamacare HMO when your medical costs get too stiff after retiring from that wonderful government secure job.

It's pandering by both sides to secure the latino vote.
I totally understand that this is the obvious answer, but I would have to think that someone in either party would stand up and say no.
Increase the deficit, no and a whole lot of arguing.
Allow work permits for illegals, sure why not?
It's just further proof to me that there isn't one side or the other anymore.

Hispanics are a demographics issue. They're around 16% of our population. So let's say one party woos them and they break 75%/25%. Well (75%-25%)*16% = 8% -- which is well beyond the margin for most US elections.
Similar analysis explains why we cannot fix Medicare or Social Security.
But hispanics aren't our ultimate class to coddle. We've got two up-and-coming classes that will need even more attention:
1) People who pay no taxes versus people who carry most of the load.
2) Fat people, who now represent 66% of americans. When people talk about imposing insurance penalties on obese people, I laugh my ass off. Not only will that not happen -- that group will be a protected class well within the next 5-10 years.

Lots of people say that, but I'm not sure... I have many Mexican-born friends, who "did it the hard way" and are here legally (in the voting public), and they despise the illegals. Of course if the illegals have fake ID from a dead or underage American, which some do, they might vote.
Putting my hardline Right political views aside, I think we have WAY too many illegals here to deport all of them. The only thing I see sensible to do, is SEAL THAT BORDER NOW!!!!!!!!!, and then weed through the illegals who are here, and deport the welfare recipients, the criminals of course, and the nonsupporting fathers, etc etc. But the ones who snuck in here about 20 years ago, and been working and riding bicycles to work (not driving illegally), might be OK to let stay. We just don't have the resources to round up and deport 10 million illegals, and seal and patrol the border all at the same time. And quite honestly, would any of us really want the jobs that illegals seem to be accepting? And don't say kids, because with the child labor laws, and the OSHA breathing down employers' necks, and lawsuits, nobody under 18 is getting any job other than maybe at the grocery store or mall. Believe me, they're not going to be hired to swing a pick axe or pick vegetables in today's legal atmosphere.

This thread is getting derailed, but here's my 2c on pulling race into the discussion: I know a German illegal alien with blond hair and blue eyes, and also a Swede and a girl from Belgium, and they all have to obey the same immigration rules as Mexicans, Russians, or Martians. They all want to work, and are WILLING to work, but can't get legal for one reason or another.
And on the other subject, the only friends I have who voted for Obama, are lazy white hippies who own VW micro buses, and sit at Starbuck's all day, with, well let's just say, not the best of luck in getting and keeping jobs.... Three Black friends (including a Federal court judge in Los Angeles), told me they voted for Mc Cain because they were afraid Obama was not as qualified, as he has no real-life experience in the workplace or in business and finances, and felt he would worsen the economy and raise taxes (Imagine anyone thinking that!!!!!????).

Yes I understand in reality he is mulatto/mixed/whatever. Im talking about for all intents and purposes, and practicality, obama is black. This is based on how american society operates. And its not hearsay when the whole nation considers him the first black president. No one ever says hes the first mulatto president. None of this means anything bad by the way.
