yeah it is
"The Barrett Model 99 "Big Shot" rifle was first introduced in 1999 and is a latest development of the Barrett Firearms Co (USA), known worldwide by its earlier .50 caliber rifles - semi-automatic M82A1 and bolt-action M95"

they said on the show that being full auto reduces accuracy so it's semi

Nice rifle but I'd take a bolt action .50 instead. Less recoil. The MacMillian Tactical is a sweet piece of ass :)

nah it was a barret, the interview mr. barret for the show.

well the barret you linked is bolt action and it cost 4000 on there website.

what happened to killing a motherfucker with hand to hand combat bruce lee style? stomping on his neck and killing him. picking somebody off from 2 miles away, what kind of pussy ass shit is that?

I can get them for between $18,000 and $25,000....straight from the source.

There must be something screwed up if they are that cheap at 4k

it's a stripped down model i think
gun shops i've been snooping around at have a cheaper model.

You can find kits that dealers put together for cheap. Real M170's are expensive since there are only about 100 in existence. The one I saw was listed at $22,000.

ill take the rail gun over all of those

The rail gun is a bazooka-sized rifle, fitted with an X-ray scope, that uses an electromagnetic pulse to fire aluminum projectiles that can penetrate buildings, trucks - anything that will explode spectacularly when hit. If the rail gun ever got in the wrong hands, "There will be a whole new era of world terrorism."

My brother owned one.. .

He also had a HK "51" 308 caliber sub machine gun... HK never made a 51.. it's a cut down and modified HK 91 rifle... much more bad ass than the HK MP5 series which was all 9mm rounds...

Something crazy about taking a machine gun with 308 rounds and cutting it down to submachine gun size... fuggin thing was scary to shoot. And Expensive.

Have to have class 3, or tax stamps for the machine gun shit though.

Barrett is, or at least was still standard class stuff..

Anything over .50 cal is considered a 'destructive device' though and requires licenses.. or what not.

Oh... And... You... You suck.

I 'used' to be alot more willing to get my hands dirty with shit... work on cars, go hunting.... whatever...

Now I just pay peeps to do that shit for me...

Ive used that weapon a few times.

After firing 5 or 6 rounds you feel "punch drunk"

You wouldnt beleive how accurate it is. I was using a Leopold scope and at 500 yards I was blowing the legs off the target holders.

Weighs a fucking ton though.. after every shot you have to re set the bipod. Leaves concussion marks in the dirt.

Reminds me of one of the dumbest military decisions ever.

The Browning BAR .50 caliber was so good that we chose not to use it in WWI for fear that the Germans would get their hands on it. So we used the real piece of shit French machine guns instead. They made good stills. Thats it.

I doubt many of you know how stupid this decision proved to be.

The BAR .50 caliber was so good that it was still being used decades later.

.50 caliber is a nice load.

The "future weapons" you tube clip proves one thing right off the bat. The guy doesn't know as much as he should, and the writers are even dumber for not finding the facts before having this puppet read the script.

The cartridge he holds up and says is a .223 and is standard military is wrong. The military uses a 5.56mm and it is also a NATO round. Nearly the same and can fire a 5.56 in a .223 but the chambers are cut slightly different.
The ".308" wasn't. It was a 7.62x39mm which is AK47 fodder. The .308W in use is designated 7.62x54 and is also a standard NATO round. I've shot this one quite a bit as a designated marksman.

I've never heard of Browning making a BAR in .50 cal. I'd like to see where this info is.

They were originally made during World War 1 to repel German 13mm tank guns...and used in World War 2 for bombers/airplanes. They were converted to land based guns by adding a stand.

Well your both right and wrong. But no harm no foul. The first pic is a Browning but it is a .30 caliber. Look at the ammo can stencil. 7.62mm. The second pic is a .50cal M2 and yes I have fired one. Niether are BAR's. The early Browning .30 fired the same ammo as the M1 Garand only it was linked. These were phased out with the Garand when we switched to the M14/M1A1 and the M60. I'll see if I can find some pics and edit my post.

Link below is info on John browning, and if you look at the military weapons you'll see pis of the BAR, M1919, and M2. You'll also see I messed up, the Nato 7.62 is 51mm long, I guess I screwed that one up. I did learn something though. I was unaware they ever chambered the M1919 for 8mm Mauser. The .303 was for the Brits and compatibility but it was to confusing on the battlefield. The short 7.62x51 was pretty limited as the M60 came out shortly after and was a smarter choice for most situations.
