Kids in beauty pagents. Sick, demented parents.

HBO recentley aired a special about parents entering their children in beauty pagents. The stress those parents placed on their kids was incredible, with parents emphasizing that beauty was the most important attribute one can have.

This should be outlawed. It's abusive to children and invites pedophiles. Usually those parents who endorse it, were once ugly unattractive kids themselves hoping to somehow live vicariously through their kids.

The unbraining of America continues................

I hate fucking beauty pagents, but if you think about it...bb comps are kind of like that. They are both showing off bodies...but the ppl in the bb can be ugly, have a good body, and still win. Did that make any sense???

Additionally, these parents pour make-up on to their kids faces, bleach the girl's hair, and moreover, they end-up looking like 5 year old tramps.

Ryan this is something else I can agree with you on...I know it's far and between but I really do.

If a child really wants to do this I can understand but I was sick when I watched that. One of those mothers took her daughter out and was screaming at her in the parking lot. WTF???Kids need to be kids.

Although things like that can't be "outlawed," I think that ANY parent that lives VICARIOUSLY through ANY activity that their children does--be it sports, pageants, academics, etc.--should be beaten with a rubber HOSE!

It just means that the parents are not happy with their lives--their past, etc.--and need something to hold onto for success...That is truly pathetic.

That could be an avenue of law you could go into...Hidden child abuse, the kind that doesn't leave scars...

Actually Badkins, these types of activities can be outlawed by the state under the 10th Amendment, if the states, in fact, find these activities are harmful to the health, safety, or welfare of a child.

TXCollegeGuy: Wasn't that mother abusive as hell? Funny, she thought she was being supportive, playing drill sargeant to her 5 year old kid. Bitch.

I have to agree with you on this one Ryan H:

A good percentage of parents look at there kids from a monetary value and have very little love for there children because they have no love for themselves. Basically kids are just money bags to these ill thoughtful parents and nothing more. It's very sad to see. :redhot:

Ryan,

It is not the government's place to tell parents how to raise their kids.

Putting your child through these rituals can be harmful, but many young girls have come through it just fine. The last thing we need is a bunch of state appointed psychologists telling parents what activities are best for their kids.

Keep the government out of the home. Is there any refuge from the state anymore?

why are the rest of you so quick to agree?
