ATF Squats

Been doing ATF as opposed to going to parrallel squats for the past 3 weeks and they are very humbling to say the least.
How have others found this excercise?
I can lift at around %75 of my parrallel squat for the same rep range.
What newer muscles am I working and what muscles need to get stronger in order to get up to my previous squat weight which was 1rpm @ 165kg?
Is it possible to lift a previous parallel 1rpm with a atf squat because of the leverage disadvantage?
I am doing single factor 5x5.

You are working your glutes and hamstrings a lot more by going deeper. If you are doing SF 5x5, focus on deadlifts on wednesdays workout and weighted hypers on mondays workout.

The ATF squat is definately not for those guys who need an ego boost. I switched about 3 months ago and am just now able to do 315 for 5x5's. So if you need to feed your ego with 495lbs doing quarter squats go ahead...but for those truly wanting to develop the entire leg..ATF are the way to go.

You'll likely catch and surpass your old parallel weights. As has been said, your hams and glutes need to catch up, along with various hip/groin muscles.

Plus ATF is best for your knees.

Feet pointing straight forward recruits the hamstrings more, as does a closer stance. Wider stance and/or toes pointing more outward utilizes the glutes more. Difference is probably nominal, unless you squat ultra-wide, 45 degrees, like a lot of PLers.

ATF squats are amazing. My first exercise. My favorite non-olympic lift.

I started them in June and what a difference! I could 1/2 way squat 450 1 rm. 375 for reps. I've worked my way back up to about 355 1 rm and am hoping Santa will bring me a 400 squat for Christmas. We'll see.....
I've had more quad development since doing atf squats (and deads) than ever before.
