Arnold @ 20yrs

Man, when he posed, his muscles just EXPLODED. You don't see that anymore. The guys today look so overstuffed that relaxed or tensed, it's the same thing.

Imagine that cat if he had come along 20 years later when there was so much more knowledge about training, diet and gear protocall. Dude would have even more sick. Except his legs, Arnold never had leg development that was up to par with his upper body.

His bi"s pop great bellys on all upper body muscles

I'm not sure training and diet has evolved much since then. There's more stuff, but nothing that is clearly "better."

As for the gear, it's funny. I don't know who remembers Harold Poole but he was a bit of freak back in the 60's. Truely outstanding. Well, once the 70's rolled around Harold made a comback and it was obvious he was doing more gear than ever. He was far more muscular, but oddly enough, he looked less "special." After all the extra gear, he was just another steroidal looking guy.

So I guess I'm saying, I'm glad Arnold was around at the right time.

I agree and i like the look arnold has better than some of the big dudes now days.

I think Arnold came around at the right time and I came around to late. I would love to have been able to catch Arnold live back then instead of having to watch archive footage. I wasn't even born till 1979. He already had his MR. O titles by then. At least I was able to catch the Terminator movies the first time around. lol.

nice find!
That's genetics....He looked so good and so normal. Today guys look all hard and massive, they walk like freak gorillas, they're always with a red face, with veins out, popped eyes and with an angry look. I guess they feel "cool"

Shoot, I like the "look" frank Zane had better than the big boys today but I don't want to watch him on stage - I want to see freaks!

great post.. the guys today dont even look like they can move.. imagine one of them trying to play ball or something.. all that muscle they cant do much with it

Bodybuilding - Its not where its been, its where its going from here. Into real life morphed freaks or into an aesthetic art form? I guess the crowds want the freaks, but at what price do we have to pay?

The new guys don't even compare to the bbr's of Arnold's generation. It took much more dedication to look like arnold and the rest of those guys than guys who look like freaks like Coleman..Coleman isn't worthy of spotting arnold!

I hear it all the time. "Imagine what Arnold would look like today ... with all the advancements in nutrition, training and steroids" ...

You know what? Arnold would have looked far less aesthetic. He would gotten caught up in the mass game. No way would Arnold have that narrow a waist these days. No way would he look like the Adonis he was back then.

He was the last great bodybuilder who was easy on the eye.

why would it have taken Arnold more dedication to look like he did and less for Jay and Dex and the noys to look like they do? That statement makes no sense at all. It takes LESS dedication to be 290lbs and 3% than to be 235 and 6%? I don't get it

I won't speak for blue but I think the point is today it's more cookie cutter. Before the time of completely saturating the receptors with gear there was more of a analysis toward making the most of ones physique. Instead of taking more gear than the next guy they used to train harder and longer. Back then if somebody had a lagging bodypart they'd work it more and in different ways to try and break past a plateau. Today they just fill it up with synthol. Not all, but many.

that man had perfect genes. hes by far the best BB of all time. i dont think there will ever really be another arnold. except maybe me.... yea i fucking wish
