Argent's meet synopsis

New member
Well thank you to every one who wished me good luck at my meet last Sat. I competed in the USAPL Viking Open in Chicago. I weighed 267. I plan on dropping down to 242 for futures meets. Heres how the meet went.

Squat:

1st: 551 good 3 whites
2nd:573 miss took a step forward
3rd: 573 miss called on depth

Bench

1st: 407 missed; out of groove
2nd:407 missed; better but not in groove still
3rd: 407 missed; I had nothing left from the 2 previous struggles

So I bombed out. I was absolutely fucking pissed. I wanted to punt a small dog. I have calmed down quite a bit and have processed it as a learning experience. I had some issues with my shirt. Not making excuses, its my own damn fault. So now I am back training with a chip on my shoulder.

I would like to thank Strider364 for all his help. He was my handoff guy and helped handle me. He, and his training partners, has given up a lot of time to help me with my training. From holding boards, to liftoffs, spots, to encouragement. You are a true friend and I really do appreciate everything.

Argent, sorry it didn't go as planned. Maybe instead of punting a small dog (LMFAO) you could just take it out on the iron at your next meet. :D

USAPL...called on depth. Imagine that.

Even for the USAPL, the depth Nazi's were out in force. I'm aseriuosly debating making the switch to the APF/AAPF.

I have been really happy with the APF. I'm sure there are "nazi's" in any federation, but the meets I've been to and participated in have been very fair.

make the switch the the apf. get away from the usapl. sorry about the bomb out, just take what you can and move on.

Well live and learn, like they said every fed can be overly strict or not strict enough, what counts is those 2 white lights. Remember to open with a weight that you could make easily. 267 to 242 is a big drop to make, just grow into the 275's-it'll make meet time less of a mindf^ck.

Thanks for the support everybody. My biggest problem was not knowing my shirt. I ordered a Fury in early Jan. I received it on April 17. Needless to say, I had gained 7 lbs. inn that span and the shirt wouldn't go on properly. The top seam on the sleeve was about 2" from where it needed to be. At the advise of some people I tried benching in it to "seat it properly". This did not work. I couldn't touch anything. I managed to almost touch 475 by bringing it to my belly. This whole ordeal left me huge, I mean not your normal my bench shirt hurts like shit bruises, huge ones, almost blood blisters. After hearing how comfortable the shirt was supposed to be, I knew something was wrong. My only viable option was to express an Inzer shirt. I recieved it 11 days out from the meet. So I didn't know it at all. Live and learn what can I say.

Argent, my fury is as tight and as uncomfortable as it could possibly be, and I love the damn thing. It hurts like a bitch, but I get damn near 80 pounds out of it. Not bad for single ply. I end up all kinds of cut up, and I can't feel my hands at all by attempt 3...but hey, I don't need blood in my arms and hands to bench, right? ;)

I found with the fury that I need to be about 4-6 inches farther back on the bench then normal, and that was the big secret of that shirt for me.

If I ever figure out this damn double denim, I might like it just as well. :)
