are root canals supposed to hurt

Not the surgery, that was pretty much painless, i'm talking about after you get it done, but before the crown goes on.

Whenever i bite down on the side of the mouth i have my root canal on i get a stabbing pain, the same type you get when you chew on tin foil. This is worse than my cavity. If this keeps up i will have to get this tooth pulled.

you could get an abcess that would make it hurt.. the tooth is probably sensitive since they filed it down to make room for the crown.. they didnt make you a temporary crown until the original crown is done?

I had one. I choose no Novocaine or gas, it hurt pretty phukin bad but the doc was a butcher, his shots hurt worse than the root canal.
I had him give me one, one time only! my mouth was sore for a week afterward. he just stuck needle in one spot and tore the shit out of my mouth!

he's no longer my dentist it was a bad one anyways didn't put in deep enough and now thew crown he put in get infected and needs to be redone. Bastard!

having HAD a tooth pulled after a root canal... I have to say... it sucks. Although, I didn't have any pain until my tooth fractured before the crown was put on... hence, needing a pulling and now a bridge.

I had one done just this past summer. It didn't hurt a bit during the process, although it was kind of sore afterwards. But that's what Lorcet is for. Your dentist should prescribe you plenty of them.

Thing is i haven't gotten a crown yet, i just ahve the hollowed out tooth filled with that putty shit. I had a root canal about 24 hours ago. Maybe after they take the putty out the pain will go away.

Anyway, if it still hurts like this after i get my crown i will have to get it fixed or pulled. This is worse than the cavity i had.

no most dentists are good he was a butcher he has many lawsuits on him lost 1.
I had another dentist and the shots barly hurt at all no pain afterwards, he agreed and told me storys of the horrible dentist i went to.

if clove oil is modern day slang for store brand topical analgesics with 20% benzocaine then i am 1 step ahead of you.

I'm just worried this is permanent. I'd rather get the tooth pulled than live like this, this is 2x as bad as my cavity. I can barely close my mouth, i'm afraid i'll get a sharp electrical pain.
