Are Cheerleaders the Future Topless Dancers of the World?

We went to Corpus this weekend and watch the national cheerleading competition. So it went from like 7 years old and up. They are very good at gymnastics and cordination but they did wear the sleaziest little outfits that you can imagine, tons of wild facial makeup, and then some of their motions were grinding sortof of motions. My wife shook her head and said, "well you are looking at the future generation of topless dancers." I said "isn't a little radical honey?" and she said would you let our 9 year old daughter wear stuff like that? And then I saw her point.

What are ya'll thoughts about this did my wife have a point?

Any female can become a dancer, don't think its limited to young cheerleaders of today, those outfits, those moves you describe are all of sign of the times, its sort of insulting to the young people that participate and degrading to a higher degree than ever. peace

Yes, your wife did have a point. I doubt many will be strippers, but the way they dress is pretty far out. Cheerleader stereotypes are so often true. I was a cheerleader for a year in HS, and I dated a stripper for a year and a half, so I guess I'm somewhat qualified in answering this.

I was a cheerleader and gymnast throughout high school....and part of college and turned out to be a part-time aerobic instructor. Competetions in the Cheerleading world are strongly influenced by dance performances....which includes those by such groups as the EX Girls (in our area), or probably more notably the "Nitro Girls" or any major sporting events "cheerleaders".

You have to remember, however that to these girls this is a sport, and a lot of work and dedication goes into their performances. And, it is important that they are involved in an event that they take pride in.

I am not selling them short as far as athletic ability they are very talented and strong btw. I just don't know why they have to dress them the way they do and make them do some of erotic moves they do. I mean these kids were 7 years old.
