Most likely have a job in a hospital as an imaging assistant which is great considering I'm in school to eventually be the person that I will be assisting. It'll really get me in the thick of things 1.5 years before I'm even finished with the radiology tech program

Anways, the shift will usually be Saturdays and Sundays with each being 16 hour shifts. This will help me a lot since I'll be in school Monday-Friday. I'm just curious as to how rough such a long shift will be

not that bad dude, when I go on assignment I work a scheduled 12,but in reality it ends up being 15-16 hrs 7 days a week for usually a month before I get a few days off only to go back.

Exactly that ^^^ be as hydrated as possible.. 2/3 hours of drinking no water.. Big Headache.. So drink lots.. and time will go fast, you'll be gaining so much from what yr learning.. The whole 16 hr wouldn't be that hard.. Plus you'll get used to it and you enjoy what you do.. that's the main thing..

i'm thinking you should bring a few hard boiled eggs, grilled chix, brown rice (personalize with spices n shizzle), yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit...assuming you have a place to store the stuff in between breaks

I've worked over 96 hrs. with less than a total of 8 hrs. sleep. 16 hrs. is a walk in the park. I do them all the time. You will get used to it.

I work in Radiology now, if cool as hell. Those shifts are chill. The time goes by if you got cool co-workers. I actually enjoy going to work.

While I was finishing my biology degree I worked 36 hours straight sometimes as a sleep tech, testing people for sleep apnea, narcolepsy... etc...

Dude!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two 16 hour shifts!!????? Boy, just feel lucky u aren't me. I work between 80-100 hours a week and some of them are 32 at a time. Plus, it's the work. We are supose to have 18 paramedics and we have 7. That means we are BUSY AS HELL!!!! When I'm not getting bled or vomited on, I'm carrying some 300 pound mope up 3 flights of stairs or sliding down a muddy embankment to a car that might catch on fire with me inside as I'm trying to widdle a 250 pound drunk from a crushed enterior. And don't even think about food or taking a pee. Only rookies need to pee. Lol. hang in there good bro. You'll adjust.

I love it! I can feel yah. I'm a Firefighter/EMT-I and know what your talking about. That overtime is nice but sometimes you pay for it. I just piss in the yard if I can..LOL We run all the EMS, MVAs, Fire, etc......

A friend of mine is a firefighter/paramedic. He once worked 96 hours straight. The first 48 hours he got absolutely no sleep during the night (I know this for a fact because I'm their medical director and knew of all the calls that went out that night).

It's true. When I first started with the company I am with now, American Medical Response, we were well staffed. Sometimes, we would be hella busy and other times we would just run a few calls but still catch at least an hour or two of sleep. Well, HELL!!!! NOT anymore. For the last couple of years there has been this wacky paramedic shortage. We show up for a 24 hour shift but AALWAYS stay much later. We never know when we get to go home. We run our asses off, now. It's fuggin' nutz. Ladies and gents: IF u call an ambulance, please have coffee on standby. Maybe throw some sugar in the cup because we will count that cup of coffee as sleep and a meal substitute. We will REALLY appreciate it. Hell, we might if return the kind gesture by not using a large bore IV on your ass. Thanx. Be safe out there and have a good day.
