Anyone one else in for a long night?

She was definitely not a worthy talent, and in my oppinion the Confessional poets were the final death of modern poetry.

I have major issues with Plath because she truly was so whiny...I love Daddy, and her one poem about picking blackberries, but she just never does it form me...rich white girl angst only goes so far.

Ever read any of Ted's stuff? I never have, but I just assume that he's talentless, because I've read a lot of Elizabeth Wurtzel, and she seems to think he's talentless. And I believe everything Elizabeth Wurtzel says. Ever. Hehe...

Do you like Lucie Brock Broido, btw? She's one of my favorites...

Sylvia didn't have "rich white girl" angst. She was a manic depressive. She was genuinely tortured by a chemical imbalance which runs in her family. I don't know how much you know about bipolar syndrome, but it is horrible to watch someone live with. When they are manic they are kings/queens of the world, powerful, wild, crazed, creative, hillarious... but when the depression hits... it's bad... very very bad. Suicide is common.

I've read most of what Ted has written. He was one of my favorite people in the world. I think if you had had the chance to meet him as friend or student you may have felt the same way. He was brilliant, charismatic, and had a genuine gift as a writer.

My favorite collection by Ted is CROW. His work is widely recognized at this time.

Elizabeth Wurtzel on the other hand is basically talentless. I'm sort of lost as why you consider her a mentionable critic.
