Mods if you could give this a day in this forum before moving it to the medical forum I really appreciate it.

Briefly, I've been experiencing some really bizarre health problems for about 5 months now. In decemember a primary car physician diagnosed me with type II diabetes. Even with diet changes my symptoms have actually gotten worse so he referred me to an endocrinologist. The endo looked at the twice daily blood glucose checks I've done for two months and decided I dont have diabetes.

He did a thyroid check and discovered mine is releasing too much. The ocassional "spells" I've been having for 3 years now, which I thought were panic attacks, are actually thryroxin (sp?) surges. My heart gallops up to over 200 bpm for a 30 to 60 seconds. Since mid Jan now I pretty much always feel like I've just drank a large pot of very strong coffee. My hands tremble constantly and am always either hot or freezing, and I cant work out anymore because of my heartrate and general weakness. Now the problem is my endo doesnt know why mine is releasing too much, so he is trying to figure out now to procede. He thinks I have or had a virus that effed up my thryoid, but cannot tell. Only thing he's ruled out is Graves Disease.

My question is does anyone know of someone who've experienced similar issues from a virus of any kind? Also, if you know anyone who lives with thyroid disease and wouldnt mind sharing I would really appreciate it.

thanks. :)

Wrong forum lady. Post it in the medical forum first, then go maybe to Anabolic forum to talk about it. There you'll get more attention and a seriuos answer. Here people post first in dumb threads, then if there's some time remaining they watch serious threads.

Yes. I am hyperthyroid. Run down a list of signs and symptoms, and I had them all...until I started tapazole therapy. I started with loading doses per dosing recommendations for people with highly overactive thyoids and tapered dose down to maintanence. I have been on tapazole now for almost 2 years and it has made a WORLD of difference!

I had the rapid A-Fib (heart rate increases like you stated)
Always hot when everyone else was cold
Night sweats, insomnia, nervousness, hypertension...on and on. Literally almost every symptom you can have.

Your endo should start to control your symptoms NOW! Thyroid Storm is an acute attack that can happen to hyperthyroid patients and it is a LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY. If your endo doesn't do something to control your hyperthroidism (like tapazole therapy) NOW, I would go see another endo. My endo doesn't seem to be too savvy, but he takes directions well, so I've kept him (I happen to be very savvy about it).

I am now taking 10 mgs every 2-3 days and my levels are normal. In many cases tapazole therapy can be discontinued after 2-4 years and the hyperthyroidism will go into remission.

GOOD LUCK!!!
