Anyone familar with Unions, and more specifically in the school system?

All I know about unions is that they killed the US steel industry and they have helped the demise of US auto firms.

Yes, I've seen that. Well, these schools all seem to have unions representing the teachers or workers, so it's either that or find another job. The thing I don't like is everyone is treated the same way regardlessneslesous of their ability. They put you on a "scale" for the amount of years you've done the job and education level etc... Some people just suck at their job, even though they've been doing it for years. Why give them more money than a better worker just because they're.... ummmm..... old?

Anyway, seems to suck a little. Procuctivity is sneseless in this environment. You just have to "put in your time" and make money. pffft. Show me some talent and I'll show you money. blah blah...

+1. 20 years from now the auto industry unions will be defunct.

Might be sooner for Ford and GM.

My old (hot!!) neighbor is a teacher and she is getting ready to move up to Michigan. She was looking for jobs and despite the shortage was having a hard time. She mentioned something about unions or memberships in something. She is a top notch person too. Great with her kids. Hot too.

My kids are going to attend private school so I don't care if the public system sucks.
