It seems one gets hired at the rate they give you without any negotiations. Is that correct? There is some kind of pay scale with 12 or 18 different steps or levels of pay including years of service in the profession. Right? How does that work exactly? Is there ANY room for negotiations?

Are "Union dues" expensive?

I thought Unions paid a lot of money? wtf? Stingy bastards. My roommate really wants this job but they seem to be low balling on the salary.

Any teachers out there? Board of Education employees?

PM me pics. thanks

Apprentice start out at set rate. Usually you have to complete 4 yrs of schooling that is specficed to your union/division (iron workers, boiler makers, electricians, pipe fitters, etc). As you move up through the school you get raises. I think on our job site apprentices start out at $18hr and once you finish school you are up to $32hr+. I am in the Midwest so they might be lower than other places. Also each trade gets paid differently. We have some boiler makers/iron workers that are up in the $40hr on this jobsite with 5-75 day per diem. I don't know exactly what their dues are, but it isn't crzy high, something like 50week?? We have 0 room for neg. on hourly workers, it is set.

Thanks!

So hourly wages are set. How about a salaried position? This job is salried, not hourly.

Also, there is no "schooling" or "classes" to be done. Coming in with 15 years experience, which I hear has it's own scale. I wonder how that works too. Can I see the scale damnit! but the 12 step levels of whatever... Freaking ridiculous.

Anyway, thanks. There's gotta be a BOE employee here somehwere.

or A Union boss. Where is bino? lol

All of my employees are union but we work under a National Maintenance Agreement Contract so i can't give you specifics of what their actual union pay scale is.

Unicorn's have a horn in their head. Oh the are some sorta horse. And they are make believe. I believe there is a cartoon about unicorn's and a purple on is on there. She sure is a purty unicorn. But I believe this post was about union's....... unicorn's? See this is where reading skills should be a rule here LOL.
