anyone else get GREAT results with really LOW cal diet?

for me so long as i get some carbs b4 workout, then get a good post workout shake then 1.5-2hrs later a good protein meal then some more protein at nite i lose FAT quickly and maintain strength muscle..

i can do this for about a week or so at a time then i bump cals up a good amount for a few days

and when i say low i mean about 1200 a day maybe a bit more

i know for some they would lose a ton of muscle but for me it works well for a bit
 
I'd say this type of diet is never considered a good option... but if one were to attempt it, it'd be more feasible at a higher bodyfat %. The more bodyfat you have the less muscle you tend to lose with diet, even in a significant deficit. As you get leaner, as in 12% and less, you will start to lose muscle faster no matter what you do. Severe calorie restricted diets that are not anabolically assisted tend to make this even more dramatic.

If it works for you then I'd say you are in the priverlaged minority but nonetheless go for it. If I could go on a strict diet like that and lose nothing but fat without completely ganking my metabolism then I'd do it. Unfortunately for me, like the majority of the people on this planet, a diet like that would do more harm than good.
 
You do cardio when you're doing this?

Yeah ultra low work cals works for me too--but it's very short-lived... I usually start losing muscle like crazy after about 4-5 days doing this. Not to mention I get painful kanka sores (apthous ulcers) in my mouth whenever I go too low on the cals. Those buggers hurt like hell.
 
yeah no cardio while doing this at all

never got the mouth sores why is that...

and now i have learned to recognize when i need to bump the cals or else i hit a wall and get super tired or i might feel like i am starting to get sick
