Anyone besides me fucking hate text messages?

spelling isnt that important now as it once was. spelling used to be a big issue bc of the typewriter, now we have word processors.

if you mean knowing spelling because of spell check and the ability to correct it? then yes i suppose. by its the same thing with calculations and math. if someone cant do basic calculations without a calculator they're just a lazy dumbass

but if you're referring to spelling not being important at all in text, that's just ignorant. If you're too lazy to type something correctly why should anyone ever take that person seriously. I cringe everytime a girl messages me or texts me with horrible spelling or "u".

no coincidence, most of the girls i know or have known who type properly have been very intelligent and have self respect.

and on the other side of that, most of the girls who type/text like idiots are no more than cumguzzlers.

This is what I mean. It's supporting our society becoming dumber. To someone from the 19th century our communication would look like some weird foreign language.

I've even heard people say lol in conversation.

i love texting...saves time straight to the point...id rather text someone instead fo waste 10 minutes talking to there stupid asses...in my case people that cant speak english and i play detective trying to figure out what the fuck there calling me for

I just don't get it...

i only check my voicemail at night...so if people need immediatte assitance text is the only way to go..saves time and weeds out the non important calls

See unfortunately this is part of the problem. The younger generation communicates 90% of the time by text message and email. They never have to use proper spelling or grammar or actually make conversation beyond a couple of sentences.

When I was in college at the age of 26 I saw these kids try to write cover letters and essays and I laughed because they couldn't even put together a proper sentence, never mind spell anything. And these are our future business leaders.

I dont know about spelling but from what Ive read, studies are showing kids are learning proper social skills through networks like Myspace and facebook. Actually, all and all, better communication skills then say you or I had. We sometimes as a older generation chastise the younger generations for poor social skills and lack of morals but the statistics dont back this. Morals in our society have actually improved........on a side note.
