I found a new MMA joint (miletich houston) and they have a kettlebell class, so i tried it yesterday and must say its really different. But I can see how it benefits a martial arts program. Anyone else use kettlebells and what are your opinions?
My old gym has a full complement of KBs and the owner is a RKC certified instructor. I have a 35lber around here some where collecting dust. I used to train with them once a week or so. Good for conditioning and core work. I did a lot of swings and snatches. Bottoms up presses and front squats are cool too. 20+ rep front squats with the 53 lbers will fizzle your abds.

I do a a kettle bell work out Saturday or Sunday morning for fun in my back yard for 90 minutes. High reps of snatch and other similar full ROM exercises. I do these with what I call sticks and stones... I use logs and large rocks to do lift and throw one end of log to one side around in full circle then back, flip log like tire flip, run with large rock, cross step and lift large rock overhead at each end, pull drag sled, sword hand work with 3"x 3' log, hit heavy bag, jump rope etc. I don't do everything every week except heavy bag and jumprope. My sensei turned me on to workouts like this. My triplets do a light weight version of the same with me and they do it 1 other time during week along with going to dojo 2 times per week. They are going to be 10 in 2 weeks. They call it torture-sthenics.
