Anybody else here torn a pec?

I did about a month and a half ago. Initially misdiagnosed. That sucks, going to be a hell of a recovery. Surgery is coming on my birthday. :redhot:

damn this sucks. Any advice from bros this has happened to?

As long as you did not tear it completely , chalk it up to a lesson and Never Bench Flat, or go excessively heavy on Chest any more

Its a Finesse muscle anyway, do Incline and strict flys from now on

It did not tear completely, luckily, but I hate that it was improperly siagnosed the first time. I knew it all along. "I tore my chest" was the first thing that went through my head.

I do chalk it up to "lesson learned," but I did it water skiing :)

Mostly I hate the fact that I was JUST getting my motion back, and now I have to go under the knife to rehabilitate for the SECOND time over the SAME THING.

I really hate that I will be, and already am, (slightly) disfigured and have a scar. That bothers me the most.

In the down time DO Cardio to keep you limber and you mind clear lol

And before you go the Gym again
I highly advise a endurance base be RE- built to re-strengthen all upper body connective tissues and muscles.

simple Pushups Every other day will do the job:) do that for 1-2 months when you have range of motion back

good luck

flys are the last thing you need to be doing ever, really. they are useless, and put your shoulder/peck in an awkward position. a close grip bench (shoulder width or an inch in) that you tuck your elbows and lower the bar while contracting your lats, should be the way to keep you injury free.

Hey bro, I work for a group of orthopedic surgeons as a physician assistant and have helped them in surgery on several of these. Feel free to shoot me a PM with any specific questions you have.

Tell me about it. You want to talk about ugly??? It is hard to believe how bad this injury looks within about 24-36 hrs. I mean you literally look like you have been run over by a convoy of 18 wheelers. Talk about a bitch to fix also. Imagine trying to retrack the muscle on some of these guys so you can see what you are doing. Definately not much fun.
