I got shot a few years back and had part of my lat and oblique removed on my left side as a result.Since then my left side drags when i lockout on benching, i hardly ever train shoulders cause of the imbalance but was told that behind the neck presses were the best bet to bring it up.

I think most feel Behind the neck presses are bad for the shoulders... I never do them as a rule... military or pushpress or DBs...

Totally agree. It's not a natural movment. Try doing them without the bar, you should notice that your shoulder rotation is at it's end with you hands all the way down to where they would be if you had a bar in your hands. Now imagine weight forcing them into that position and beyond. It's not something that instantly will do harm, but over time it will do damage. I don't do lat pulldowns behind the neck for the same reason.

Military presses are just as good, and harmless.

i heard i should train shoulders the workout after chest:is this considered core or assistance work? Delts, that is,and what set/rep scheme should i go with?

thanx for the advice guys, jus' got back from my delt and trap workout, a bit disappointed that i couldn't get over 200 on standing presses, but like how the db presses felt, hopefully i can start working this diligently and it will pay off.

a lot of dudes don't due any major shoulder work except for rear delts or some light rotator work... or maybe some front plate raises (all accessory work)

sometimes i will throw in some extra tho...
I will do pushpress for sets of 1-2 and 5-6 sets
or maybe militarty/standing press for sets of 2-3 for 4-5 sets
or dumbells for sets of 5-6 or 8-10 for 3-4 sets

I will usually pick one of those (or rotate them) and work it in on one of my bench days and that is about it... shoulders get a lot of work already, no need to do to much - just enough to stimulate...
