no a 2000 will not, BMW is behind on a lot of that stuff. They don't like implementing stuff unless they know it works seamlessly...like iDrive...lol

But it 2000, MP3 would not be on the stock deck

Couple hundred bucks and he can replace the deck and have a wire ran (hidden) to the center console or glove box where he can have a iPod connected.

I have this one in my car. Alpine site says it retails for $450 but I paid less than $300 for it new. It's wired to my iPod that sits in the center console, wires are hidden, and you never have to touch the iPod as everything can be done from the radio.

Uh, okay, I'm gonna ask the obvious:

Since he owns the car, why doesn't he just get a CD with a couple of MP3s on it, that he knows plays okay, and try? The worst that happens is (brace yourself) nothing. The player acknowledges the CD but can't see the tracks and no sound comes out. It doesn't break the CD player or anything, and the CD ejects just fine (how do I know this? Because that's how my husband and I found out the CD player in our car can't play MP3s).

It won't have an 1/8" jack to plug in an iPod, and also the CD deck will not play data CDs with MP3s on them. Red Book CDs only.

are you talking about it playing mp3's from an ipod or play burnt cd's w/mp3 files?
I assumed the burned CDs.

Last car show my husband and I went to I was shocked how many stock radios don't have an aux. access plug, or some proprietary shit only for an IPOD. I happen to like my el-cheapo Sansa players and they're inexpensive enough that if I don't have enough Gigs I can just go buy another one.
