This last thanksgiving I had a three year old hit me in the face with her doll. Of course both her parents chastised her verbally and I told her it wasn't very nice and how would she feel but I realized that I had picked up her doll and had been playing with it to entertain her sister right before the incident without asking her consent. I was in the wrong because it's her doll and I didn't ask permission, children are protective of their property rights because they have so few rights. Children understand property rights and basic morality better than those of us who were raised in a contradictory system. We teach our children to not hit but we hit...we teach our children to not lie but we lie to them. I remember being subjected to it and being confused but it seems once we're adults we forget what it was like to be powerless.

Children HAVE TO fear their parents to a certain degree, love will follow, so will respect, and they REMEMBER what happened the last time. it causes them to think twice and act once.
