You can always call companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fortis, American Medical and ask for rates, or you can call up insurance brokers in your area who will collect that info for you. Then you can compare between brokers for best rate.
There are a couple things you can do to reduce your monthly premium. By selecting a high deductable, which only applies to major medical (hospitalization) you decrease the premium. We set ours at 10,000 because if something major happens to us, 10K won't be hardly ANYTHING compared to the total medical bill. This brings our monthly premium to about $200 for 2 adults and a child. If it had been a $1,000 deducatable it would've been closer to $400 a month.
The second thing is to opt out of maternity coverage. This alone can reduce your premium on the lady. Child bearing age women are EXPENSIVE!
Good luck.

Is that you in your avatar? I remember seeing pics of you from over a year ago and you were a skinny skinny girl. I'm impressed. Got any other pics? Maybe of your.......bum? hehe. My back pain dosen't stop my bum fetish...hehe.![]()

By belonging to an association of some kind, sometimes health ins referals are given. For example, we get a cut rate through the American Bar Association because he's an attorney. Same goes for armed force, some credit unions, civic organizations, etc...

Mezzanine said:So if I go to a local doctor or hospital I could just get treated and have them bill me? even though I have no insurance?

Is that for non life threatening also?

Well, yes, I think so. MEzz should contact her local hospital authority.
Sapphire said:You can also try Golden Rule insurance. I just signed with them for $130/month. That covers doc visits with $35 co-pay; prescription at $25 and 70/30 for major medical. Also, once you submit the app and are approved you decide when the effective date is! So, if you send the check today, you could see a doc tomorrow and when they call with your approval tell them you want you insurance to kick in on the date of the visit....they are pretty flexible especially for the "unemployed".
Best of luck...feel better.

spatterson said:This is going to depend on how the application is worded. If it asks if you've ever been treated by a physician for back pain, and you say no, which is true, then it may not be pre-existing. If they ask if you've ever EXPERIENCED back pain or trauma...well, this is where you need to be honest to your detrement.

I pay over 600 dollars a month at the highest deductible allowed...additionally, members of my profession have found it very difficult to get disability insurance at a reasonable rate...on top of that I have not been able to find a company willing to consider me for life insurance.
Poor me. boo hoo.
There has been some good advice given already.

What company are you with? Is that a rate for just you?
Why can't you get a life insurance policy? If it is just because your a chiro I guarantee you I can get you coverage.
Disability ins and reasonable rate don't go hand in hand unless it is a piece of shit plan. But at the same time you get what you pay for.
spatterson said:Because you get what you pay for?
