Can you go to the hospital or a doctor and get them to bill you? As mentioned in my other post I have bad back pain(sciatica) and I want to see a doc but I dont have insurance- can I just go and get them to treat me and then have them bill me later? Anyone done this?

So do you think I should get coverage and not tell them about the back problem and then go see a doctor after the coverage goes into affect? I think Acupunture is the only thing that will most likely help, unless I have a slipped disc or something. I tried to get free care through county medical services but if your employed you have to have pay stubs(I work under the table) and if your unemployed they want a letter from whoever supports you. Pain in the ass!! Our medical system sucks! I could have my girl fill out the letter saying she supports me but then they also want me to file for unemployment which I would rather not do seeing as how I am working and all(of course they dont know that)- its a big mess. I just need to get my damn back fixed so I can go back to the gym!!! :( 4 months of daily pain is getting really old....

You can always call companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fortis, American Medical and ask for rates, or you can call up insurance brokers in your area who will collect that info for you. Then you can compare between brokers for best rate.

There are a couple things you can do to reduce your monthly premium. By selecting a high deductable, which only applies to major medical (hospitalization) you decrease the premium. We set ours at 10,000 because if something major happens to us, 10K won't be hardly ANYTHING compared to the total medical bill. This brings our monthly premium to about $200 for 2 adults and a child. If it had been a $1,000 deducatable it would've been closer to $400 a month.

The second thing is to opt out of maternity coverage. This alone can reduce your premium on the lady. Child bearing age women are EXPENSIVE!

Good luck.

I don't get it. I've looked at med. insurance quotes for myself, and the usually only come to about $34 a month. How did you get $200 a month? spread out over 3 people that is still $60 each. Of course the $29 quote is for PPO insurance.

However, i have no idea really. With a pre-existing medical condition insurance will probably be alot higher. I just signed up for a dental plan (a plan is different from insurance. Instead of the insurance paying Everything but the deductable, a plan gives you a 60% or so discount on treatment if you visit dentists on a list.) Medical plans are sold too, they are usually called 'medical benefits' or 'discount medical plans'.

Care and Insurance

Bro -
If you go to a major hospital in your area they MUST treat you with or without your ability to pay. This is because the Federal Government requires providers that take Medicare/Medicaid to provide care to everyone.

Also, if you are really down on you luck you may be able to qualify to Medicaid. This is federal health insurance for the poor. Otherwise the advice proposed by others above sound cool...

Good Luck,

peace

No, no injections. I haven't been able to go to the gym for over 4 months because of the pain. The thing is that I work under the table so if I apply for Medi-cal(californias crappy medicare system) I have to say I am unemployed and apply for unemployment- otherwise I have to show pay stubs. It is a big pain in the ass process. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and pay out of pocket for an accupuncturist. They cost around 60 bucks an hour. I would save probably half of that with insurance. I am looking around online now for insurance quotes. I am not telling them I have a pre-existing condition, they dont need to know I have had this for a few months.

Quotesmith gave me a rate of 91/month with a 100 deduct - that is the cheapest I have seen. Do I need to pay the deduct to get any treatment at all or just major treatment(surgery)? That is kind of expensive for a 28 year old male...hmmm...they gave me a rate of 28/month with 1000 deduct.

Man, I had severe Myofacial Pain in the lower back and did the Injections and PT.
They showed me how to safely slowly increase my core strength and above all about 7-8 ways to stretch my lower back EVERY DAY.

I still have intermittant low back pain but have not needed any further treatments.

I say bite the bullet and get examined and X-rayed to make sure it is not something serious.

If Muscular or connective related learn to stretch EVERY DAY...
