Another Fun Sunday, 7-21-02

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Didn't do anything crazy today...just felt a little better and stronger than last week.. I guess that is what I should be doing...small, tiny gains every week.

Bottom Position GM's, blue bands attached
warm ups
205 x 5
275 x 5
325 x 3

Standing Calf Raises
135 x 10
185 x 10
235 x 10 PR actually...on my machine

Yoke and Flip
440 yoke for 50', 1,000 pound tire by 1 flip
440 yoke for 50' x 2 sets
350 yoke for 50' x 1 set
1,000 tire x 1 flip (need a smaller tire)

Thick Bar Clean and Press
135 x 3
185 x 3
207 x 3
223.5 x 3

Dimel Deadlifts
223.5 x 10 x 2 sets

Carry/Load and Drag
260 pound keg, run 50' and load...repeat...then sled drag 180 x 50'
Sled drag 350 x 50' (getting MUCH easier)

That was basically it...did my first few events in the rain....and have to get those muscles back in shape. I was still sore from Wednesday and Friday!!!!

Aren't I pretty???

Here is my band set up for my GM's...something different. I put my feet in the bands and stood on them. Not extremely tight but fairly tight.

Working on my clean and press still. Don't think it is possible to power clean a thick non rotating bar...just has to be muscled up...

I don't think that big feet help either...lol

Finished off with the medley...carry/load and drag. It was fun getting those extra plates to stay on the keg...lol.

I love to train, 5 days a week, but I like to have fun too. What do you do for fun?

Yes...this is the most fun that I have all week...

very nice.. Im so tempted to try and flip a tire. but the biggest thing i have around is a 20inch BMX tire, so i dont think i'll get much out of it.

Interesting band setup, never thought of trying it that way.
Nice job on the calf PR.

Are you having a lot of trouble cleaning the weight up on the clean and press w/ the thick bar?

It isn't too tough at such a light weight. I will only have to clean 240 on contest day. It just gets slick and is big around... You can't get any wrist snap because your hands are wide open trying to hold onto the bar. I didn't see a single pro (not even those with olympic lifting backgrounds) power clean their axle this past week...

What kind of deadlift is that?

Named after Matt Dimel. I do them with a slightly closer stance. I take it down slow an inch or two below my knees and shoot it back up as quickly as possibly. Really works the hams and glutes...

It'd be funny if you accidentally hit that blue Cadillac with that big ass tire. Well, no, not really. Haha.

Nice pics man.

My father would be pissed...lol...it is for sale. He just bought another one...

My neighbors love me...it is ESPN Strongman at my place every Sunday..lol
