Another Fun Sunday, 3-3-02

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well, first workout back since Boston. I could tell that I had not done any events or much lifting at all since the contest. I have not eaten much since the contest either...and it showed today. That nice, warm, 25 degree high with the freezing wind really didn't help either..haha

Deadlifts
worked up in weight for several sets
607 x 1 (no support gear, belt, suit, or straps) was fairly easy.

Tire Flip
5 flips
8 flips

Super Yoke
345 x 100 ft x 2 sets (like a run)

Heusafeldt Stone Carry
50 ft x 2 sets
no idea what it weighs...but was a lot of fun:)

Log Press
several light sets, working very quickly
240 x 1 easy rep

Crucifix Hold
25's x 2 sets

That was it. We invited our fraternity's pledges out to train with us a few of them actually showed up. They had a lot of fun..haha...and they will hurt tomorrow...a lot.

I went very light today on everything and I don't think I ever got serious...kept my smile going and just had fun. Not time to get serious about STL for a few more weeks anyway.

God Bless...and any advice offered is appreciated.

Ohh...I also included a pic of my 57 year old friend who made my stone. He took off running with this thing and is a freak of nature. Two feet of steel holding his back together, pins in both shoulders, recently had a heart attack and nerve replacement surgery in his right hand. He is just a freak of nature!!!!

Let me see if I can get Night Fly to post some pics for me!!!!

Cool as hell (as usual).

Is your Heusafeldt Stone the Y shaped tree trunk? If so - it's alot thicker than a regular stone, I would wonder about the weight issue also. But the grip work and leverages would be pretty close to target.

peace.

The older guy that trains with me is a tree doctor and cut down a tree in my front yard for me. He made that stone out of Maple. He is now working on one made out of oak so that it will be heavier. It is very very thick...about 14" or more thick. MUCH thicker than a normal one.

Despite not eating and training much it looks like your strength continues to get better all the time, especially your deadlift.

Nice work B-fold. When you mentioned the Heusafeldt Stone, I first thought you had a real one..those things weigh more than 400 lbs!
How old is that piece of maple? I am asking because the moisture content of the wood has a big impact on its weight..if it's freshly cut it will weight alot more. In any event, you have some good weight there :)
I can't wait for the day when you will take pictures of the daily airplane or train pull! HAHAHA

the People's Champ: I am 6'2"...maybe slightly taller.

needsize: I rarely train my deadlift...and I have it in me to pull 700...I just know it.

Mdguy: That stone was cut last week and we are working to seal it asap. I was told that Maple weighed 60lbs per square foot. We are working on one out of oak.

bfold, i train for strongman as well, how long do u do the crucifix holds for, good job on increasing ur lifts too, i would think a stone would be harder to hold than wood though, just a thought

The crucifix hold is hard after doing the log press and the tire flip. I hate shoulder movements..haha..my weakness. At my first contest, nearly a year ago, I held a pair of 31 lb crosses for 51.x seconds.

The wood I used was very thick and not too heavy. We are working on getting some oak and adding weights to the one I already have.

nice crucifix hold, i was just referring to the texture of the object, the wood one u use looks kinda smooth whereas the real husafelt stone is jaggedy as hell and the roughness of it is hard as shit on the grip

nice work tho bro

I hope to hit the lake tomorrow (if it is not raining) and pick me out a real one!!!! :)
