Glad to hear he is still alive. I know a few people who've done it and not trying to sound sick, morbit, cold, heartless but after a few times it just doesnt phase you as much. It's surprising at first and then you just go on with your life. Nothing sadder than when people take their own lives. I could only imagine what they are going through at that time.
