An odd shoulder and chest pain from lifting...

Hey guys,

I'm on my 6th week of the 5x5, things going well, but every time I turn my head to either the right or left side i get this pulling pain in my left shoulder blade that shoots up toward my left trapezius. Also, when i sit down and try to touch my chin to my chest i get a pulling pain in my left pectoral muscle, almost feels like its in my ribs(similar feeling of pain in both back and chest). Anyone know what these could be? They don't affect my performance in the weight room but they do affect my everyday movement function!

Thanks ahead!

are you left handed? i ask cuz when lifting really heavy the body will naturally tend to use more of the favored side to get the weight up. its possible that your straining your left side only because of that exact reason. try doing more DB exercises cuz then you will use each side independantly instead of in conjunction with each other.

I've had what you're describing, the doctor said it was a simple muscle strain. I seem to get it if I go OTT with shrugs. Not a lot you can do really, just don't go mad with the weights or you'll aggrevate it further. Nothing to worry about IMO :)

like tk said, sounds like a muscle strain, when you were under tension doing a bench or shoulder press u probably tweaked it from moving your head.
