i was the winning bidder on an ebaymotors auction for 3 cans of freon. i paid prompty via paypal, received notification of shipping....

i received 2 packages in today's mail...my 3 cans in one box and 4 more cans in another box, both addressed to me.

should i contact the seller or keep quiet?

I DO believe in karma. It's a probably mistake, maybe made by an employee, to the disadvantage of the owner. I run 2 businesses, I don't EXPECT the customer to fix it either because many are like you, but I do appreciate it when they do catch a mistake and I don't have to eat it, as you put it.

Just do the right thing. period. end of story

i once had a source send me double my order. i didnt want to burn the source so i told him and he said to just keep it. put it in their hands. it might not be worth them paying you to ship them back. dont pay for shipping yourself make them.

at one point in time i did own a '76 caddy seville (the "small" one)...silver with dark red leather interior, wire wheels, 2 inch whitewall tires...a very understated (for the time) classy car! nagging fuel injection issues made me sell it. sure wish i had it back again! :p :artist:

Cause saying "hey bro, you dropped some cash." Isn't as big of a hassle as calling people, getting put on hold, mailing shit, haggling over who's paying to mail the shit etc, you get the point.

depends on if you use situational ethics in your life..

I am assuming from your past posts that you will contact them and offer to pay for 1/2 the price, or they can send you cash to ship the extra back..

otherwise it's stealing.. simple as that..

I know you will do the right thing..

I would contact the seller. If he has to pay for shipping cost to return the packs.I bet he will give you a can or two free ,something for a reward. But first make sure you're account was not charged for both packs

payment was made via a money order, for 3 cans.
 
from a business point of view, the important thing isnt teh cans of freon - its that an error was made that they could fix - so i think the main thing is to let them know that it happened so that they can improve their company (chances are, you now have someone elses package, and they have none)

if i were you i would ask them to send you a self adressed postal package or whatever - if they can be bothered getting off their arses to put in a tiny bit of effort to get their stock back, then meet them in the middle and do it. if they jsut want you to do a bunch of running around to fix their mistake, id let the cans sit there until i had to go to the post office anyway - if at all

The world is an ugly place full of ugly self serving selfish people. It makes my day when someone does something nice without having any motive other than just being good people. Imagine how much happier we'd all be if on a regular basis people were courteous, kind, and honest.

My motive?

It's to simply try and get people to see that there are subtle benefits to being good to other people when you aren't getting immediate returns.

no, how fucking hard is it to hit his link and say, "hey, you sent 2 extra bottles, I didn't want you to lose any money, how would you like to handle it?" He can sell the bottles at a price you really can't turn down OR he will ask you to send it back COD in the same packaging it came in. How hard is that. He'll prolly say, "hey, my bad, you keep it and remember me next time if you need anything." Your clear, he's happy to have a satisfied customer.

Also, if RNCH buys shit periodically, or for sure if he buy frequently, the feedback is right next to your name. I'd want to keep mine at 100% positive, how valuable would a message from the seller that said, "I goofed and sent too many bottles, he was honest and let me know, excellent Ebayer, would do business with him anytime!" A+++++++
OR it could say something negative, "I made a mistake and he kept my product even after numerous atttempts to contact buyer. Never again!

i would ask for a prepaid label or a paypal transfer for shipping prior to you sending it back. it was the seller's mistake.

my 48 years of life experience tells me the the world has rules, not man made laws, rules of life. Do wrong expect wrong x's 10, do good expect good x's 3.

I've tested them both, got both results, prefer the latter.

nobody said be a fool, contact Ebay and ask what the protocol is. I bet they already have a "you screw up, you pay shippng" policy in place. If they don't tell them that you are more than happy to send it back if they credit your PayPal account or send you a MO for the shipping, something like that.

however, if you are well off (not hurting for money) and can afford freon easily, do a nice gesture and return it.

if you getting that extra freon was like winning the lotery, then treat yourself nice and enjoy it

as i said above....i emailed the seller about the double shipment. the seller emailed me back, asking me to ship the second order back, at MY expense. he would then reinburse me for the shipping cost after he received the order.

i don't think so........

i emailed him back requesting shipping cost sent to me before i mailed it back to him.

still waiting for his response......

Contact the seller. "Karma" seems pretty prevalent on E-bay so why not generate some positive karma by contacting the seller and offering to return the cans - someone somewhere hasn't received that package that was intended for them and thus a headache / bad feeling created for seller and recipient.

Plus you'll feel good doing the honest thing, so that when someone fucks you over you can get all high and mighty without feeling like a fucking hypocrite.

naw, Ebay can edit the posts on his user name, it would have been a good idea to get them involved at the beginning. After millions of transactions, this isn't the first one that had this happen to I'm sure, they surely have safeguards built in to address that. I'd email them now for sure....

u sure, i had a buddy who got negative feedback by accident, the buyer clicked the wrong button, and ebay told them they cannot remove it, even the buyer emailed ebay and told them it was a mistake and they still said we cant help you

i emailed the seller AGAIN and requested either a pre-paid shipping label or a money order for the amount of what i paid him for shipping. he doesn't do Paypal.

as the old chinese laundry joke goes..."no ticket no laundry"

i feel i have done more than enough to remidy this situation.

as for AAP...as good as his back looks, backs don't do much for me....perfer pec/ab shots to get me motivated.
