Americans...seriously...why do you hate the metric system?

I just saw a graph on who's on the imperial system and there are three countries. Two are third world backwater countries while the third is the US. Why?

I figured that having a standardized measurement would make the supply chain processes easier.

The STOOPIDEST measure is the stone, equal to 14 pounds and to 6.35029318 kilograms......WTF kinda number is that?

I'm a cyclist so I use metric for everything except height and weight. From memory my bike's:

seat tube length = 53cm
top tube = 53.5cm
seat height = 71cm
chainstay length = 40.6cm
handlebar width = 42cm, reach = 82mm, drop = 132mm
fork rake = 4.3cm

I can tell you the weight of most of the parts in grams. I couldn't tell you any of that stuff in Imperial measurements, but I know the entire thing weighs 15.6 lbs.

You know we were going to convert many years ago, I imagine some of you were not thought of yet. But I can remember it well. Society just couldn't adapt. So the project was shut down. Now people are smat, and understand it more, maybe a second try is in order?

Sigh..why do people always want to change something that is not broke? I'm okay with living outside the box.

Well, how about because it's inferior!! I just know all you arrogant third world jerk offs wouldn't have a clue if I told you about prime factorizations and the ability to divide by more then just two. You are all going to be corporate drones or ditch diggers anyhow. All you can do is divide by two. You count one, two, three, many. And I seriously doubt you can get to three without help. (( THAT'S A MAJOR CLUE FOR YOU IDIOTS >>3<< >>3<< >>3<<))
2x2x3 = ???? 2x5 = ????

And from here on I'm sure I will have to draw you all pictures because your brains just melted from the strain.

And if you have read this far and don't have any idea what I am talking about realize you are a fool and should shoot yourself so you don't pollute the gene pool.

Eugenics as a good idea!!!

The only value proposition that I have for changing is the cost savings on any supply chain and purchasing processes of your companies.

I wouldn't suggest to do it if it didn't benefit you.

Define why you find it inferior.

My value proposition is to have a common set of measurement that would ease transportation and shipping costs from country to country. Given that your country's manufacturing base has dwindled (and will likely continue to do so), I thought it would be prudent to switch to save your country some money.

Prime factorizations? Tell me how that makes you money. It's a nice math problem, but I'm not seeing the real world practicality of it.

The ability to divide by more then just two? Seriously? Do you know what the metric system is?

Okay, why don't we use it? Because we're taught imperial measurement first, like anything else, language included, what you learn first and earliest is what you find easiest to understand.

As to the idea of standardization ... y'know, who gives a shit really? We don't have standardization of currency, we don't have a single world language, so why should this be any different?

Did you not see the value proposition in the previous threads? Changing language or currency would be difficult, because there are too many variants across the world. Change measuring systems would be easy because there are only two and one of them is only used by three countries.

who are the other 2 countries that dont use the metric system?

Three nations have not officially adopted the International System of Units as their primary or sole system of measurement: Burma, Liberia, and the United States.[1]
