Canada is part of the Commonwealth...our status has NOTHING to do with the US of A. We have proven ourselves time and time again on our own.

IE -Peacekeeping
-ANY world war


I respect the States for their accomplishments but for some reason i have a feeling that some of it's citizens have a hard time respecting the achievements of other countries without trying to say that they (The US) played a major role in it.

johnny you need to read what i wrote about what is taken for granted...

nevertheless, my main point was that the fact that bush made his comment in passing and only when he was asked really seems disrespectful. he had four meetings with the press that day, and all it would have taken was that same comment unprovoked. had he done the same if american soldiers were killed and spoken only in passing, i suspect there would have been an uproar in the US.

smalls- I'm not sure if I read your statements regarding Bush's statements (or, in some opinions, lack thereof) correctly, but he can't come out and say "I'm sorry." Kinda like when you get in a car wreck, you don't apologize. That implies fault, and insurance adjusters will jump all over that. Without viewing the evidence, it's inappropriate to assign blame.

BTW, didn't we already have this thread when certain people felt Bush snubed Canada in the State of the Union, or whichever speech that was?
