Yes, and you also control demand with queues. I'd be all for that, but our over-indulged entitled citizens would never go for that. So it will be like our other entitlements -- politicians will be falling all over themselves to dole-out bigger benefits to their constituents.
The question is how to fix it? Privatize it? That failed because the oligarchy of one set of robber barons prevent the short term fixes that people are looking for. Government take over? That failed because the oligarchy of another set of robber barons prevent the short term fixes of debt control that people are looking for.
The question that would solve everything, is how to fix people from getting fat?
If I knew the answer that would work for everyone, I would be on the Oprah network.
I tried selling self discipline and self portion control, but nobody wanted to buy it.
"Hey EJE, how do you stop from being fat?
"I dunno. How about you ask me when you're not eating a WHOLE BIRTHDAY CAKE?"
What about tax return incentives for gym membership's, and activity's for kids such as sports and shit?
I thought about that, but the challenge that I don't see is that I don't see how to make them actually go to the gym.
We both know that some general level of fitness isn't rocket science.
I'm currently experimenting with some body weight workouts to see if I like doing that better then the weighted ones (ie chins, flag). Conceptually, people could do the same thing outside.
I can claim up to $1000 per year for my son's sports but the return I get is minimal...like an extra $15 back type of minimal. I guess it's better then nothing.
Lol what about the heavy weights who are in good shape
