java is 100% correct, prime directive all the way. There was no national humilitation in what happened in Libya unless you want to think of being in a clture that put out that awful movie that started this whole thing. If it were at least funny it would have been one thing, but it was made in somebodies backyard.

Northeast Africa has publicly funded universities (often with US tax dollars)and a majority of educated youth; Hopefully, reason wins the battle.IMO, American and Soviet Cold War interventions harmed their development by keeping these dictatorships in place as opposed to allowing the same process the west went through to create a more secular society during "The Reformation."

The Muslim Brotherhood is in charge of Egypt, it's a representative government. In every geographical region we call a state there are two organized power players; The current government and the clergy. It doesn't matter if it's the Dems or Repubs in the United States; They all pay homage to religious interests to support the legitimacy of their policies.

Islam is going through their "reformation." Something Christianity and western Europe went through centuries ago. The best policy is to leave them alone and not try to impose a system of governance that is below their cultural evolution. I'm all for the "Prime Directive" when dealing with primitive cultures.

Bubububut I thought that "everyone's the same" lol.

Sam Harris relates a story in one of my youtubes with Obama's current adviser on ethics. He asked her if a society supported maiming children, was it ethical? Her reply was that it depended on the reason. Sam responded, what if they had a religious scripture that commanded every third child should walk in darkness and they blinded every third child? She responded it was ethical as long as it was based in religion.
