Am I to old for AAS?

Welcome to EF bro!

That is a question to be answered by none other than your personal physician.

If you have normal BP, no heart conditions, and are otherwise healthy, then you are at a PERFECT place for some good old test. And it will surely improve the quality of your life!!

(in my opinion, steroids were originally meant for men with declining test levels)

Us young guÿs just reap benefits of supraphysiological androgen levels.

But you-you could feel 23 again!

I recommend doing a ton of research, as well as making sure your nutrition is up to par!

Also, what's your activity level look like? Hit the gym much?

Look foreward to hearing from you!!

Welcome to EF
Great question. We make sure everyone is alright before we help them with a first cycle. If you are worried about your age, bp, chol, etc. then check with the doctor first. we are not doctors, though we can help people that are interested in AAS use if they are healthy adult males (and some females).
If you have had no issues before now, then we can definetly help you out.
The perfect steriod would be what we naturally produce: Testosterone. You will find, as you research, this is the prefect steriod to begin with.
Please help us out before we can evaluate you. Give us some stats, training history, diet. There are plenty of 'verteran' guy on this board that can help you out better than I.

I'm 48 and thinking about doing my first cycle. Am I too old? If not, should I stay away from some particular steroids because of my age?

hrt. thats all i would do. pushing 50 i wouldnt do more than 100-150mg test ew

as we get older are organs become more likely to suffer from the steroids. its far more dangerous. that is why the smarter older guys wont do much more than trt. maybe go 100-200mg over their trt a couple times per year.

im not trying to bash anyone and i realy wish the best of health for everyone so please dont take offence to my next statement.

running 1g cycles at 55 is imo verry dangerous and will likely lead to a deadly condition.

welcome to elite, sage! you have found the best site around for accurate advice on exercise, nutrition and supplimentation.

read and learn here!

i am always amazed at what i learn from this site......and not just about weight lifting.

my .02 on your question: in addition to the excellent advice sweed mentioned above.....if you are in good health, i believe the older we become the more we need the muscle building and anti-ageing efects roids can give us.

he's a powerlifter. he's got a deadlift close to 600lbs. not bad for an old man.

Dam, I guess not bad...my hat off to your dad!

Sage, talk to the guys here, Needtogetass, Southernloard, DaBuffGuy,GoinOn4T, EddyMerks and a lot of other s have boatloads of expereince. Benefit from that then make your decision and best of luck to you.

It's common sense that the body is less resilient as it gets older. A certain amount of T is healthy for an older guy but once you push the envelope all the sides become more prevalent. I'd say 100 mgs of T a week with one or two cycles a year of maybe 200 mgs of T and 400 mgs of Primo is about as far as you can go within reasonable safety limits. Of course, so may be able to get away with more -- some may experience problems with less.

If you are healthy (heart, cholesterol, kidneys, prostate, liver, blood and blood pressure,) I don't see why 500mg test isn't out of the question.

I know that lots of masters age guys juice. If you are healthy, and stayed monitored by your doctor, go for it.

Of course, you wouldn't need 500mg to see fantastic results at your age. 300mg weekly should be more than sufficient to provide substantial increases in muscle mass and strength.

for a cycle. At your age, and especially a first time....I would simply use 1 ml E5D. if you get say, some test Enanthate and its 200 or 250 or 300 mg per ml then I'de just go with 1 ml E5D.
You will likely feel like a bazillion bucks. I can tell you I messed with AAS in my early and early/mid 20s and havnt touched it in 8 years, until this year(im 33) and Even at my age I feel the effects differently now than back then. Not just the muscle building effects ofcourse, but the "health" effects. Energy, well being, feeling "good" from it ect.
But as these guys said, make sure your kidneys, liver, heart, blood work(cholesterol, trigycerides ect...) are all good. Get a check-up before cycle, mid cycle(with bloodwork) and post cycle.
For all intents and purposes it should be a great experience for you.

I plan to be using at your age.

But look at Stallone. He obviously still does.

Get a full checkup from your doc and if your blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart and liver function is fine, I would say go for it.

Run something like 250mg of test for 8 weeks and see how that goes for you. Monitor your blood pressure the entire time. Eat healthy and clean(as you should be anyway), and don't go crazy and get yourself injured in the gym. You should see some decent results with that at your age. If all goes well then try 500mg for 12 weeks the next go around. You could even add some primo or low dose Anavar(if your cholesterol is good something like 20mg ED) imho.

What do say to the Dr. re:trt to get the ball rolling? Do you just ask to have your T tested? Have my regular appointment early September so I'll attempt to get the conversation going. Have always trained regular 4/5 days week for years and train real heavy but just can't cut it anymore. Loss of energy and therefore a feeling of... I just don't got it anymore.

Tell him your tired all the time, your not in the mood for sex really. You perform shitty when you do. You dont sleep that good. There are lots of things.

yep. if he dont bite then go to a clinic. bottom line is they will check your t levels. if their not low you wont get it. if that happens there are dishonest ways to get them low, come back and ask about that if you need to.

And the most important thing is Train and build a good base before touching any juice or you may wind up with an injury.

We've talked about the normal health issues to get checked like cholesterol and blood pressure but is there issues with the prostrate at my age (48) if I was to do a cycle?

+1

Yes definetly. Get that checked, then take prostate support supps...like saw palmetto.

This blocks dht at the androgen receptor, and helps protect the prostate from enlargment.

I see no problem barring any current health issues.I did my 1st cycleTest E 300/wk abt a 6 mos ago at the age of 56 though I had used prohormones extensively before.I'm now on my second and see no reason not to incorporate it into my life/training management,
I have trained regularly for years and in good health and have had great results as well as a definite improvement in my sense of well being.Nobody in my life thinks I'm anywhere close to my age
Good luck bro

What is your training background? My opinion if you have a good base and you're diet is good I'd start with something like
300 mg a week test and 200 decca if you're pretty lean. You should get a good bang out of that.

DHT = potentially bad for prostate. DHT is formed from testosterone through conversion.

Typically, it isn't an issue of any concern for low doses (less than 200mg weekly.)

I'll put it this way, if your prostate is healthy, you have nothing to worry about. If you have an enlarged prostate or other problems, then you will have to get that sorted out with your doctor and can still use testosterone, but you should not go over 100mg weekly which is a very standard therapeudic dose.

I was reading an article somewhere where they are now thinking estrogen is more a culprit of prostate issues than testosterone. The theory is a 54yr old man has more estrogen in his body than a 59yr old woman. As we get older, our test decreases while estrogen increases. We tend to have prostate issues later in life when test levels are at their lowest and estrogen is at the highest. Thoughts?? The prediction is in ten yrs or less TRT is going to be common place for most men over 50.

I wrote about this 10 years ago. It was pure speculation but it made sense to me. If prostate problems were a matter of T, then YOUNG men would have them when T is highest.

I had the resident chemistry snobs (Bill Roberts, Pat Armold, Lyle McDonaold and the a few other posers) chastise me -- saying I had no scientific evidence. I didn't. It was just a theory based on logic. As it turns out, it was correct.

Prostate problems in aging men are now being treated with emphasis on lowering estrogen.

My daughter was getting a checkup at the Dr. and I just happened to pick up a magazine related to health and it had the article in there. Makes sense, don't they even say to have as many orgasms as possible to keep your prostate functioning properly? That means keep your testosterone flowing.....You are ahead of your time Mr. Montana.......Keep up the tremendous work!!

Just back from the Dr. and my checkup. Attempted to express my concern that I have lost my drive, moody, tired, no sex drive, muscle loss in an effort to get my T tested... didn't work! Seemed to think my work schedule/volume was causing my issues, WHATEVER! The good news is kidneys, liver, blood pressure & cholesterol are all good. So I guess I have to decide if I'm jumping in with my first cycle. I appreciate all the advice offered and would appreciate comments relating to what my first cycle should be. Like most people my goal, if possible at my age, would be to put some mass back on my frame.

I thought I would throw this out there since we have a similar interest. I am 47 and did my first cycle since I was 22 this past winter and I am now in my second. When I started I was 220 lbs and I am 6'0. I have a good friend that is a regular AAS user and he helped me to start a cycle to fit what I wanted, which was to gain muscle and hopefully trim some fat at the same time. He suggested, and I did, 75 eod Tren Ace and 250mg a week Test enanthate. I have never been so amazed at anything in my life but the Tren dramatically changed my physic in no time. I was on an 8 week cycle and dropped my weight to 215 lbs but went from a 38 inch waist to a 36 inch and put on significant size in my chest, arms, shoulders and legs. I guess I was lucky, but other than a few night sweats, and some insomnia, I had no sides from the Tren or Test. I have to say I never felt so good in my life and I had so much energy. However, I will say though, that I had started working out almost 1 year prior to starting the cycle and thought that that would be enough to handle any strength gains, but I was wrong. A 47 year old body isnt what it used to be and even working out for 1 year wasn't enough to handle the dramatic increases in strength. My strength went through the roof and I did stress my shoulders which took some time to recover, well I still suffer some issues but it is tolerable now. But when I started I was maxing 225lbs 1 time on my bench press and at week 6 I was repping 225 3 sets of 10. I shouldnt have tried to lift that much that quick,. and I knew better, it was just so easy... so anyways after the 8 week cycle I did pct and started my third cycle 3 months later. During the three months off though I did clen and ECA stack and trimmed up very nicely and dropped weight to 210. Now I am 6 weeks into a Tren 75 EOD, 500MG Test Enanthate and 400 Eq and I am filling out nicely. My weight is up to 228lbs and I am still have 36 inch waiste. My arms have gone from 16 to 17 1/2 Chest is up from 48 inch to 52 inch and I feel GREAT!!! I know AAS isnt for everyone but I am loving it again. I havent received so many compliments from people in my life and I seriously look and feel at least 10 years younger. I wish you the best with your goals and hope you enjoy it as much as I have. BTW this site is great and gave me a lot of inspiration and guidance to get me started.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You had help setting up your cycle. I don't have anyone to help me with that, what do you suggest or where would you suggest I go to ensure I go in the right direction. So much advice and so many products...

Sage have you thought about Needto's products? You might drop him a PM. Just tell him about you and what you want. Just click on his name, NeedtoGetAss.

Watch the joints. If your having problems, drop the weight, up the reps (12-15) and lower the entire rep speed to around 4 seconds or so. Take shorter rests between sets. Use perfect form. If you cant use perfect form then lower the weight til you find one that lets you do all the above with perfect form. Then work your way up from there. Trust me it works. Your shoulders will thanki you and you will still get results.

Astronaut and Senator John Glenn takes hgh and passes the Astronaut test every year. Hes like 80!

NO,,,your never too old;) At your age your a perfect candidate for TRT.
Have you ever tested your natural levels?

What deadly condition? Could you please specify the organ or organs which would be "dangerously" harmed?

300 mg Deca per week
