You should research this, but if I recall the false negative % on hs-2 blood tests is about 20%, and also its not a test for the virus, but a test for the antibodies to the virus which may disappear over time.

iow, you may in fact be carrying the virus, and have an outbreak when your immune defenses are low.

It tests for the antibodies which means if your immune system has ever fought against herpes, it'll will show up. They cant tell if your going to outbreak or at what stage your at, My blood had a rating of .04
<.90 was negative
=.90 to 1.10 was equivocal
>1.10 was positive

But I agree, there is always the chance of a bad test, so I am going to get tested again sometime in the next month

I agree and I know form exp. My girlfriend now my wife of 10 years had it. I have never had the first sign or test positive for it. 10 years now, but I can still transmit it. Please have respect for all future partners and use protection and be honest.

So you have taken a blood test and and are negative but you can still transmit it? How do you know you can transmit it?

My wife and I both have it. Its kind of a nightmare story but ignorance on the subject led to it spreading from me orally to her orally, then to her genitals and back to MY genitals. We get outbreaks maybe once or twice a year. I use Valtrex immediately the second I feel anything coming on and it works great.

Thanks for the response, i appreciate it, but I still have never got an outbreak and have tested negative. I don't understand how someone could test negative yet they still know that they can transmit it, any ideas?
