Am I Immuned to Herpes??

you cant. If you are negative then you do not have the virus. I can tell you this though. Depending on the type if test the results will come back negative. If you have not sores then if they swab the area it will be negative.

More than often if you test negative then you don't have it. She may be asymptomatic. That means she doesn't get outbreaks, but she may shed (not the same as an outbreak). If you have had sex when she wasn't shedding then you would not have gotten it.

For the idiot(s) that totally believe she cheated on you:

You have no facts in this case. People have had genital herpes for years and not have known it. Most men find out about it because the penis gets tender. Women, however usually don't find out unless their SO sees a reaction on them (the penis) or the woman goes in for a PAP. Often herpes sore occur in women on the inside of the vagina and the symptoms can mimic other problems like yeast infections, vaginitis, or a host of other normal things that happen to women. Get your facts straight before coming on here and ranting like you are experts on the subject.

What do you mean by a carrier?

Carrier means you have a virus that is dormant in your body. Either it just never reacted or your antibodies have it in check. You an however, give that virus to other people. People that have had Mononucleosis are typically carriers but do not show symptoms again.

If it was not detected, in all likelyhood you are just DAM LUCKY. She has probably not had an outbreak recently and you have not been in contact with it. Genital is the worst and can be spread to any part of the body so watch it.

Thanks, thats what I thought, it didn't make any sense to be negative and yet still know that you can pass it to other people

Just looked it up.

1 in 5 people in the US have (reported) genetal herpies.
1 in 8 in Australia.
1 in 9 in Great Britain.

Soooo if you have slept with anyone in the past their is a 1 in 5 chance they had Herpies. Their is also a decent chance that YOU have it and are just not symptomatic or just havn't bothered to get it checked out.

There's no such thing as immunity to herpes. My guess is she hasn't had a single outbreak in your 7 mos together, which wouldn't be unheard of. Herpes affects different people in different ways: some get frequent, violent outbreaks while others go months if not years without an outbreak. Be warned, though: it's possible to have outbreaks with mild if not virtually invisible symptoms! Also, even if there isn't an outbreak, there's such a thing as "asymptomatic shedding," though my guess is that in the case of your g-friend, this is minimal or virtually non-existent. Otherwise you might have already been infected. You both need to do some research so you fully understand the disease, know what symptoms to look for, what to do/not to, etc. A great resource is http://www.ashastd.org/
FYI - Valtrex daily medication for a lot of patients drastically reduces asymptomatic shedding, and it can greatly minimize the number of outbreaks.
