a desktop in the spare bedroom accross the hall, and my room has a laptop.

we got aol now but i'm trying to get DSL (26$/mo:))

the desktop has a ethernet card in it, as does my laptop but i'd like to go wireless with it, well, because why the hell not, itd be sweet to sit on my couch and surf EF ;)

oh, i'd like to have both computers share the printer thats in the room with the desktop too...

so, what equiptment do i need for each comp? what equiptment is good? whats a good price? where do i get it from? is wireless even worth it, or will it suck and my internet wont work in 2/3 my house?

Buy a wireless router from Office Max, Office Depot, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. Makers include D-link, Microsoft, Belkin, etc. Most of the routers will have a diagram on the box show what you need. The fastest these days is 802.11g

bc with the service they give you the option to buy a wireless home networking kit for 50$, but they dont say what kind

Wireless has a tendency to be flaky, but it isn't too bad. http://www.cnet.com has reviews and user opinions on wireless routers. Before I rolled my own firewall, I used both Belkin and D-link wireless routers. Do a quick peek at the reviews to see what suits you best - just about anything will do.

Get a wireless access point/router that has a few switch ports in it. That gives you a firewall, switch and wireless access point all in one so you can do wired or wireless. You then need a wireless nic in each box.
