Adam Archuleta

If it wasn't for steroids he would be in the nfl. How do you know he squats 3x bw. Just because espn says it means nothing. I am not saying that everyone is on steroids but most nfl players are. Testing is shit. Adam is not on sterois like Boston is not on steroids. I still respect all nfl players but I want to see someone get that much progress without steroids. Those clips were from college. He isn't anywhere near the top in the nfl.

Nobody said he was the top in the NFL, but the fact he went from a walkon to a somebody in 6 years of training speaks volumes.
He must be able to play I guess...people forget that, he is a football player.

I'm not so much interested in Adam, but what Jay Schroeder does. That's the big deal.
He's style of training is so different from what anyone does, not the exercies themselves, but how he organises everything. He uses a lot of cutting edge stuff equipment as well like the vibration machines.
I have learnt a lot just digging around for info about him. It leads to trails to other sources.

Well my goal is to full squat 585lbs one day, and I'll be lighter than Adam, lets hope nobody accuses me of steriods :p

I like to sit around and make excuses to make myself feel better because there are people out there who are willing to work for what they want. I like to cut them down and try and belittle their accomplishments because I know I don't have the balls to work as hard as they do.

I'm sorry to hear that bro.

this is some of the stuff I found

the word is that there is a dvd out there that shroeder made with the training program he used with adam but I cant seem to find it...

man there is so much stuff I agree with him and from personal experience I know those exercieses for speed help, overtraining helps also in the long run, or at least it does for me.

anyway if someone finds that dvd can you post where you found it?

I have the DVD, it's done by Adam's management no Jay, it's not very complete. It doesn't show everything he does that's for sure, a lot of the stuff in the ESPN clip isn't shown or demo'ed
on the DVD. But you do get a basic understanding of his methods. It's all about absorbing force and storing it.
A lot of the terminolgy in the DVD now finally allows me to understand some general programs from Jay I have seen.

Jay's motto is - before you can exert force you have to be able to absorb it.

anyway it's the not the exercises, it's how you do it in his own words. Adam was on a pre-planned 6 year program. Each year building up on the previous one, early years are prep for the more intense stuff in later years. That's why he can do 6 feet altitude drops and not get hurt. And he even does em on one leg into a lunge stance on the DVD - that's a whole lot of force to absorb!
How many people here do that? well there 's your answer :)

the DVD can be found here

the menu from the DVD

there is some plyo pushups towards the end :)

If you look closely he has a dumbell held on his chest and he has a electro stim unit on his hams ---> ouch :)

he has strong hams, I don't think there are too many people who could do a GHR, starting from the floor up with a dumbell ....

Wow.

It just looked different than the typical GHR bench. Too bad I don't have access to a GHR, I'm stuck with leg curls for knee flexion.

CCJ- Do you know if Archuleta did anything conventional? Stuff other than the supramaximal and plyometric stuff? How'd he get from 175 to 210? Just diet?

He's doing it on the floor - hook legs under a support etc.
You can do this too, just find something to hook your legs under and use your arms to help initially - umm just do plyo pushups - kill 2 birds with one stone :)

He does use a GHR machine on the DVD

He does all the usual benches, deadlifts, powercleans, squats, dips etc
even curls :)
Like he said, it's not the exercises, it's how you do them.

Doing weights put on muscles.
6 years of training will add that on easily enough. I mean all those 20+singles he does in one session with 400-500lbs ought to add some muscle - no? :)
he pretty lean as well, so no fluff, all lean body mass gains.
