A SAD WEEK FOR NY FIREFIGHTERS (very long but please read)

Last Friday during the European Day of mourning EVERYTHING closed here in Ireland except a little pub in Dublin. It unfortunetly doesn't have a website for you to visit, but it's 'The Porterhouse' in Templebar, Dublin 1.
Last friday it was the only pub to open it's doors to the public, with all it's employee's working free, why ?. Because the owner's, management and staff gave all the proceeds (every single penny) to the NYFD widows and orphans fund !. I haven't any idea how much money was made from the bar and wages but they opened their door's at 9am Friday morning to 3am Tuesday morning so the proceeds would be substantial.
Just thought I'd throw that in guys. If anyone of you guys are every coming over here and want to have a pint there drop me an e.mail and I'll drink you under the table !.
Peace

They are heroes, unfortunately heroes we don't think about everyday. After last weeks mayhem, not only do I hope that we do our best to remember them, but do our best to contribute what we can wether it is through services, funds, or just a simple thanks.

I really think a firefighter is one of the most if not the most giving profession in the world. Some police officers become officers for the power, but firefighters have no such authority, yet they risk their lives everyday, for comparatively little pay, to save the lives of strangers...I honestly had never thought about it this way before...a firefighter is a true hero of heroes, up their right alongside veterans and war heroes.

Someone waking up in the morning to go risk his life to save others is enough to think of that man as a hero.

Firefighters don't do it simply because it's their job - they do it simply because it's what they do. God bless them.

No words can express the sense of loss we all feel;
it is even less possible to be able to express the feelings of those intimately
familiar with NY's bravest and finest. Hero seems to be too overused to
adequately describe these superior individuals and human beings.

It is of little doubt that they are in a far better place, smiling down on us all.

FDNY, the baddest mofo's to ever fight fire.

Starting pay for a firefighter in NYC is 29,000 a year.

Did anyone else see that thick mofo that rang the bell at the stock exchange the other day?

God bless New York's bravest.

Sorry, missed your post on the thick mofo.

Flexed1, p.m. blueeyedcowgirl, her husband is FDNY, maybe they know your brothers.
