Those gyms actually are for the athletic teams. The student facilities are generally absolute commercial garbage. A few racks, no platforms, standard stuff. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful inside (good interior scenery too) but they are basically just standard stuff.

Plenty of 160lbs frat guys in colleges though. I knew I was getting old when I was doing cleans about 6' in front of a rack at one of the area Golds Gyms and this kid with a pledge pin comes up after shuffling around looking for 5 minutes or so and says, "Sir, would it be too much trouble if I could use that rack please?" Right then I knew I had better graduate. Wouldn't you know he used it for curls too.

Tragically ugly color scheme but very nice.

I love the www.power-lift.com products. Like I said, one day I'm getting one and I'm going to be the happiest guy in town. I'm still hoping my son develops a desire and passion for lifting. I would be very cool to train with him at home on a setup like that. Plus if he wants it too, it might actually get wife approval.

Actually since you couldn't resist the PSU dig, I half expected to see U of M with a ton of machines after all those other beautiful facilities (I think a link you provided had some discussion about U of M and HIT)

any idea if uc berkeley's is anything like these? i was thinking of trying to annoy the coaches into letting me train in the athlete gym, but i havent even gotten inside to even see it. are there pics of it?
