I think the idea behind all those troops was to make the people in the house think there was no possibility of getting out alive except by surrendering.

Or maybe Yday and Qusay knew too much about our shady dealings with Iraq over the years.

Im not proud of our army's attack on the house and Im not proud that well be paying an Arab ratfink 30 million for the information. Wouldnt it have been better to set a trap and capture them alive? This way, they look like heroes and martyrs in Arab eyes.

You are an enemy of the state. Since you are a traitor dont be surprised if the feds start blowing up your house rather than knocking. If you give me your address I would gladly give it to them. I'm sure Ashcroft will use you as an example to what happens to traitors.

What?

Foreign policy is the definition of Machievellianism(sp). Ours anyway.

I have a theory that the more competitive the country, the dirtier it plays.

It was a lose-lose situation. You kill them ? They're martyrs. You catch them alive ? Their supporters will strap bombs on them and blow anything possible.

I disagree that the second option is as bad as the first. They are strapping them on anyway, and if we had captured them alive we could have learned something and not look like an evil Goliath. In the Arab world, it is a sign of honor and power to show mercy to your enemy.

Only the narrow minded are taking pleasure in the whole deal. If you think of it that way you are misinformed. Almost no one in this thread has taken much pleasure in it.

That part of the world speaks the language of force. They do not speak democracy, nor diplomacy, but force: life, bloodshed, death.

For 20 years they ruled with that language of force. Now, the message is delivered in in their native language that they are no longer ruling.

No one except the mentally small are taking pleasure in it. It is about doing what MUST be done.

America, Canada, civilized Europe etc., do not speak the language of force in our own governments. We get thigns done by democracy, consensus and compromise.

We don't know of despotism and tyranny. So now, when we have to resort to that, our own populations call it disgusting. It is disgusting, in our context.

This is what Iraq has dealt with for 20 years. WE are ending it.

You're pretty ignorant if you can;t see a right - worng here.

True and this is why no matter the circumstances, it was probably the best to end with them. On the long run, dealing with both in jail and court, would have created a mess there. Now it's done, both are dead and the symbol or at least what they were known for, is dust...

I had no idea it was the US governments mission to make you feel proud. I will pass that message along to President Bush the next time i speak to him!

You dont think the US has been trying to set up traps and capture these guys for months now? They finally cornered them and didnt let them leave. Would it have been better to capture them alive and hopefully obtain information on their dad's location? of course. Obviously, that wasnt an option.
