5x5 ramping

The best estimate is around 10%, or slightly rounded from there. In your case, it would be 18lbs, so you could do either 15lb or 20lb jumps, earlier in the program to get a feel for heavier weight, I would do the smaller jumps, but that's up to you.

So your sets would look like:

120x5, 135x5, 150x5, 165x5, 180x5

Or:

100x5, 120x5, 140x5, 160x5, 180x5

Good luck...

ZgZaz is a genius man... Do what he says or else... LoL.. jp bro.. he's absolutely correct. Slow and steady progress is CRUCIAL to a successful 5x5 program.. Check our logs for ideas on how to go about it. Good Luck and keep a log so we can watch you GROW!

I am new to the 5x5 as well and was wondering why you prefer the smaller jumps?

If I read Madcow's description of Set Interval, he suggested that a smaller % is more likely to fatigue too soon. Your thoughts?

True, it will. But like I said, "Earlier in the program" I think it's a good idea to do, to get a feel for the heavier weights you will be doing in the upcoming weeks. Later on when you're deep into 5 rep maxes for all your lifts, make the much bigger jumps so you're not too fatigued come your top set.

Either way, it's not too far off from where it should be.
