14 year old gets LIFE without parole

What about the little girls life? She no longer has it. Life is not harsh enough. I have seen that look in other peoples faces and he does not appear to be all there.

10-15 would be sufficient? Hmmm? He would be what 24-29 years old? Having spent his youth in jail, with no normal mentors only ass rapers and murder's do you really think he would be fit to be released into society? I think not.

He is better off dead. I do not say that lightly as I have two son's myself.

Life in prison without parole will be a pure hell on him till he dies, and death while still seeming cruel would put him out our misery as well as his.

Maybe the judge wanted a heavy sentence as an example..

and no i think crime in Belgium is higher then anywhere in Europe.

It was on the news 10 days ago that Belgium had the highest crime rate of Europe. 10 000 000 people and over a 1 000 000 felonys registrated. So maybe 250 000 not registrated.

(sorry spell check takes for ages)

Re: maybe the lawyers where not so happy to defend a killer

"This 14-year old should be drawn and quartered, along with the lawyers that came up with such a bullshit defense (see RyanH's poll on death penalty)."

Why not let him free and let the people take care of it?

Can anyone (WHO HAS KIDS), imagine what this is. My god, if it was my kid, i would kill him myself if he would become free.

I couldn't live knowing he walked free.

Jeff sweetheart,

I respect your anger over what happened to that beautiful six year old...

but do you really think you'd kill your own son? :(

Also, where do you think that 14 year old child learned to be so unaware of his own strength, of how easily he could hurt another?

He probably learned it from people who were supposed to love him...

It might be a mercy to a child like that, if he were killed. I doubt his life has been much of a joy to him so far :(. Poor thing...

In no way am I saying what he did was ok, but he's only a child and he learned it somewhere.

Anyone who jokes here about violence and then decries what this child did, is a total hypocrite (in my opinion).

There is nothing good about this but killing the 14 year old will only perpetuate the cycle of violence...he already has to live with he killed his friend...can you imagine a worse horror than knowing that, for the rest of your life...:(

:bawling:

I wouldn't be surprised if his own would kill him just like you say you would, Jeff, if they were given half a chance...perhaps the only safe place for him now will be jail (or the equivalent for teenagers)...

no Helen i meant

if it was my daughter of 6 and he walked free i would kill the murderer. I would go to jail for that. Not kill my own son.

Maybe i said it wrong.

Even if it was a kid of 14, an act like that does not deserve a second change. If he is old enough to act as an adult (in the wrong way), he must be judged as an adult.....

oh, ok, maybe I misunderstood you, Jeff. Thanks for clarifying...

I think that anyone normal would be angry over the senseless death of a 6 year old.

It's very hard to know what to do with a 14 year old who accidently (apparently) kills another child, their friend even :(

I noticed in the photo in the news report he looked like he had been crying. I bet.

p.s. I have a hard time saying anyone doesn't deserve a second chance but I recognize the need to protect other people from the one being given a second chance, obviously...and I understand all the grief and anger which complicates the issue (imo)

The 14 year old wasn't even doing wrestling moves on her. He just used that as an excuse. He should get the death penalty..

It looks like he rolled the dice and lose.

Prosecutor Ken Padowitz tried to broker a deal last year in which Tate would plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of three years in a juvenile center, followed by one year of house arrest, 10 years of probation, various psychological testing and treatment, and 1,000 hours of community service.

I don't know about US law but here a person can only be convicted of murder if they met two conditions:-

1/ They had the 'actus reas' - guilty act, they killed the person(S)
2/ They had the 'mens reas' - guilty mind, they INTENDED to kill the person(s)

In court if condition 2 is not met the criminal prosecution service(CPS) will change the charge to either voluantary or involountary manslaugter.

We had a case a few years ago of the Jamie Bulger kills. Jamie was around 4. Two kids of 12 took him to a railway track and threw rocks at him until he was dead. They were detained at 'Her Majesty's Pleasue' (ie, indefinetly). They are 18 now and out of prison. The public outrage was so great that they had served about six years the crown took out injunctions to stop the press publishing their current photos, address details, etc.

It is widely believed that they are now living in Australia or even America under new identities.

My point... did this kid intend to kill the girl? If not this should be taken into consideration. Those Bulger killer sacks of shit should still be in prison.

BTW, In this country drunk drivers who kill in car 'accidents' get off with around 5 years.....

Basically if those 2 points are met, then its called first degree murder...that's what he was convicted of, so it looks like he could've been convicted over there too.

Throw the little animal in a cage & throw away the fucking key!!

If he is set free he will murder again..Read the article ..

Its a harsh penalty, but his mother and lawyers turned down a plea bargain that would have given him 5 years in a juvenile home and then 10 years probation. Why the hell did they do that? Then, the DA decided to prosecute it as 1st degree murder. He was found guilty and the judge had no choice but to follow the laws of Florida.
