What a fuggin weekend so far. Bought a new power supply and changed it out but no luck after my comp unexpectedly shut off last night. Geek Squad jewbags are looking it over now and should have an answer as to what happened in 4-5 days.

Fucking computers.

you called the damn jew squad bro? lmao

random story, my lady took her laptop in to the jew squad, the fixed shit up, returned it, with their diagnostic CD still in the computer

They stole her dave matthews or whatever bullshit cd and I got a free diagnostic cd. All they do is run this CD to fix shit. nice.

How can they run the cd on my comp if it wont even turn on? Thats my concern. Aside from the motherboard, I got no problem changing any of the parts out, so this was sort of the last resort kinda thing.

hence my "random story" comment, not related to your situation.

Your MB def prolly took a shit. I had that happen to this laptop, luckily still under "at home warranty" so I had some tool come out and replace right quick.

Is this a desk top or labby?

Desktop. I figure Ill end up dropping another $200 fot a motherboard...plus whatever the jew squad will charge to put it in. Its pretty difficult isnt it?

No idea what this means in regards to the motherboard you nerd. Id gotta remove all thr shit thats in there. Knowing me Im sure Id fuck it up.

plug and play motherfucker

It's pretty simple, the different stuff in there can only be plugged into one place. When everything has different male/female connectors it's nearly impossible to fuck up. But yeah, you'd probably find a way.

Alrighty then. Ill try to give it a shot if that does indeed turn out to be the problem.

dude I would NOT trust geek squad, first of all peeps who work there are required minimal to no tech experience, second they make pretty much minimum wage, second as a tech with Alienware/Dell I received ENDLESS calls of geek squad either fucking up a unit or fucking up a diagnostic....example:

End user: my laptop/motherboard is dead, I took it to geek squad and they had it several days and tested it, even used a voltage meter and the power isnt working
Me: I see.... ok just for troubleshooting purposes can you unplug it, remove the battery and press the power button for 20 seconds please
End user: it's not gonna turn on! (no shit sherlock im removing all power!)
Me: correct sir it wont turn on we are just draining all power, once done place power cord back on and turn on,did it turn on?
End user: yes...*hangs up*

75th: if you want once them bitches release your computerlet me take a stab at it,let me know the model/specs and full symptoms (that were youdoing when it happened, is it the first time, clicking noises, if it turns on and then off or if totally dead or if it has any LED on, etc) I'll help you figure it out...If I could have 60 year olds open and fix laptops and PCs over the phone Im sure I can help you or at least diagnose what's wrong so it can be replaced :)

Will do nan...gracias. I figured out on my own that it wasnt the PS as when I would attempt to turn on the pc, the led light on one of my fans would flick on and off quickly...thats what leads me to think its the motherboard.

The pc itself is custom. Has worked fine for the past 8 months until it shut down the other day playing L4D2 which my pc can more than handle. The case itself was really hot to the touch and there was that faint smell of burnt electronics. The funny thing is that after about 30 minutes, I turned the pc on and it loaded up fine. All my icons and files were on my desktop. As i went to double click on one it shut down again and hasnt turned on since.

I tried cycling the power, unplugging the PS from every component and trying them one by one, etc.

does it have integrated video? you can try removing the external card and running on internal to see if ext is drawing too much power and/or overheating, let me know when u get it back or if they fixed it....
